I am amazed that by now that the publisher did not update this book ? It mainly deals with pre 2000 music gear reviews and old recording DAW software. It has a few good tips on older MIDI and hardware/software and recording. But if your into older music recording gear and older software, then it has allot of Historical information on that.

I bought this book mainly because I have some older Alesis ADAT gear and some older digital ADAT interface mixers/ recorders that are all in one units, and that I needed more information on. But it did not really go into much detail about ADAT gear and or how to effeciently use most older digital gear or software.

I found this book kind of really a basic general training on digital gear/software and very little on actually using or recording in a project studio. Nothing really trains you to do much of anything regarding digital recording. There is some good information here at times, but as I said, it is really vague and outdated by 13 years !!!

I wish it went more in-depth detail and had more examples of training you how to use older digital recording gear. Kind of a mute point today to get this book, most of this information can be found online. However it does give some details on some older recording gear and DAW software that you can't find online.

They should bring out a new version of this book soon, it is sorely lacking in allot of details, details about digital gear and software that you absolutely must need to know, especially now-a-days'.

this is the first audio recording book I found it very useful and teach you from nothing to mostly everything. Itz not really into details but at least you will basically understand all kinds of music gears and how it functions. Itz a super good book for entry to medium level of music lovers or producers or who wanna step into the recording field!!!

I read tons of recording books and most are either out-of-date or don't pretain to the set-up I have. This book is a great place to start for those who are just starting out and need a little direction. Since the recording field is so diverse you need a guide...and this is it!!!
