Great book that is perfect for the beginner guitar player. Leo Brouwer's pieces in this book are all extremely unique. Un Dia is not in here, and neither is An Idea. However, it does have Cancion de cuna, along with some other nice ones. Each one has a completely different feel to it, some are slow and melancholic, others are fast and jumpy. It really adds variety to any classical guitarist's repertoire. The only problem I have with it is the binding: it's very stiff, which makes it hardly ideal on the music stand.

Brower created a nice short piece of music exploring the resonance of the guitar as an accomplished lute composer of times gone by would. He opens the piece with arpeggios that allow the guitar to sound full, moves into a harp like scale that introduces interesting voice movements and then when restating previous material we arrive at ornaments evocative of different eras of cultivated music: romantic (where he evoques Chopin explicitly), barroque and late renaissance, from which typical resolution ornaments are drawn from. This piece needs some work to put it together but will add to the repertoire of guitar players of intermediate level. It will work well and allow for interesting interpretative options.
