Jean-Paul Goude: Jungle Fever. This book was given to me around 20 years ago after my uncle died. He loved photography, and knowing I did too he left me a box full of photography books. Most of them were of this kind, how to develop or shoot with artificial light, but this one struck my attention. I didn’t know anything about Jean-Paul at the time but I remember I kept it like a treasure until I learnt more about his work, and finally met him in person las year. It was nice to close the circle and get him to sign it for me. Above.
The book includes a series of texts and sketches with various anecdotes and auto-biographical references, all of which inform the works displayed. Goude's obsession with the black female body is evident throughout this book, in particular, his friendship and work with musician Grace Jones. Jean-Paul Goude 1 (Artist).
