Angelina wants more than anything else to become a ballerina and dances all the time - even when she's supposed to be doing chores or getting ready for school. Her parents, Mr and Mrs Mouseling, are in despair - but then they think of a plan

Angelina loves to dance and wants to become a ballerina more than anything else in the world.
Love this book from childhood! Ordered my daughter one along with three of her friends for all of their birthdays. The four books arrived smelling strongly of some type of chemical, I'm not sure what...kind of like permanent ink? Also the pages in all four books were wrinkled as if they had come into contact with moisture. Amazon sent me a replacement four books and they smelled just as bad and were wrinkled just like the precious four. So disappointing. I will be returning them and getting the book from elsewhere.
This was my FAVORITES book growing up, so I decided to order a copy for my daughter (I don't let her touch my original one because I'm a nutjob apparently). My daughter is 4 and loves it. I think this book is very inspiring. Also, it made my daughter start putting away her toys and cleaning her room because Angelina eventually began cleaning her room too. I didn't see that coming.

So, to sum up, buy this book if you want your 4 year old to put their toys away and clean their rooms.
It's hard to believe that I hadn't already reviewed this wonderful book...I read it to my own children over 30 years ago. Now I'm reading it to my grandchildren - and they love it just as much!

I got a copy of the board book because I know my new granddaughter will enjoy turning (and perhaps gumming) the pages. What is it about this story that makes it relevant over three decades after it was written? The character, sweet goal-oriented Angelina...and the setting...a happy family with loving supportive parents...and the will Angelina find a way to dance her way to happiness. The author succeeds in touching our hearts because she writes from her own.

As a kindergarten teacher and mom, I appreciate the thoughtful text, beautiful illustrations and timely timeless message. This book belongs in every young child's library.

I wanted to let everyone know that this "special" 25th edition, really isn't all that special after all. The book jacket does have a special glitter on it that wasn't in the original. However, with my 2 year old, the book jackets quickly are taken off of books and put away for safe keeping.

Underneath the jacket, the main cover is rather washed out with no vivid colors and no glitter. Aside from a small 25 year logo in the upper right hand corner of the book, there isn't any other special features that I could see.

Also, throughout the book, the illustrations appear to be not as vivid in color as the older one we were constantly checking out from the library. It is close, but not quite as vibrant. And the last page has sort of strong orange overtones as if the printing was a little off. Probably not noticable if you hadn't seen another copy, but disappointing to me because I am so familiar with the older library edition.

It is printed in China and you can tell it from the cheap quality of the cover and not as vivid illustrations as the older library edition.

Still a wonderful book. However I would recommend trying to get the regular edition and not the 25th edition. But if the regular edition or a used copy of the regular edition in good condition is not available, then get this one. All young girls love to read this over and over and having your own copy is great.
Colors are a bit too subdued to convey the vibrancy and retain attention. This was a big drawback of the "anniversary edition" for me. Also a little more advanced than other books for the similar age group, but that's a good thing in a way. Aim higher and all that! The story and illustrations are otherwise intricate and lovely.
Angelina Ballerina has been around, well 25 years, so obviously it's a great book. With that said, I wish they would have updated the coloring so everything wasn't so light and pastel (the book seems a lot lighter than the picture shown)....Other than that, after 25 years of success there is nothing I can say to make it more or less popular.
heart of sky
I loved this book as a child, and now giving it to my daughter holds double joy.

The book was in amazing condition and was delivered quickly.

This is the perfect book for little girls dreaming of becoming a dancer... even if only for one year of their lives...
The classic book is still a winner sign my little ballerina! We watch the shows sometimes, but the original book is always the preferred option!
