Youngsters enjoy a wonderful creativity that allows them to express themselves joyfully through art. As they get older the urge to create remains, but they may not believe they possess "real" artistic talent. This Jumbo Book bridges that gap. Art techniques provide the basis for over 200 pages of drawing, painting, sculpture and mixed-media crafting projects, along with itemized material lists and a glossary that will give kids the confidence and freedom to explore!

My 8-year old daughter loves this book. She checked it out of the library so many times that we had to just buy it for her because she had to eventually return it. The pictures in the book also make it accessible to younger kids who aren't strong readers yet.

This book is okay as far as ideas go, but my son was a little put off by the lack of demonstrations of the art or craft featured to show more advanced results. The book is probably for kids younger than he is (12-13 yrs), but I didn't notice that if the description included a target age. However, I told him that all of the craft ideas can be implemented at his age and experience level in Art class - "just be creative and do it your way!" This book is suitable for younger children who like a little guidance and a lot of leeway! It is a sturdy guidebook for art class or for someone who is looking to keep a younger child busy at home; almost kid-proof.

Lots of great art projects for kids in a cute, kid-friendly style. The materials all seem to be easily accessible and inexpensive. I'm looking forward to using them with the kids in my school's art club.

I teach Art at the middle school level. I use plenty of ideas from this book. I highly recommend for anyone who teachers art or whomever is just interested in art.

First I must say a major pet peeve of mine is when someone "reviews" the condition of a book. This is supposed to address content, not whether or not your seller shipped timely or the book was in top shape. Oy.

That being said, I do like this book a lot. I am a mom who is often looking for more meaningful art projects that offer a bit of instruction as well as being creative, I also seek inspiration. This book does all that and more. The Jumbo Book of Art offers you lots of photos to guide you and ways to change the projects. I am looking forward to seeing the outdoor version of the book. I would encourage parents and teachers to check this one out. Applause for Ms. Luxbacher for a fine book that has become a much used reference guide for our family.
Clear, colorful instructions. Projects are made with all types of media and are imaginative and dynamic. Drawing skills fostered through sketch book ideas. Packed with information and learning while having so much fun with art.
