Grammar World is a make-believe amusement park where boys and girls are introduced in chapter one to the animals who teach them about different kinds of sentences: statements and questions, commands and exclamations, subjects and predicates, combining sentences, and how to avoid fragments and run-on sentences. Chapter two takes kids to Grammar World's rides, where they learn about nouns, pronouns, adjectives, and several other parts of speech. Chapter three takes them to the Water Park, where they learn how to use verbs. Chapter four is a dolphin show, and explanation of prepositions, prepositional phrases, conjunctions, and interjections. The fifth and final chapter is a fireworks display, in which kids learn punctuation, capitalization, abbreviations, and other details that will help them write clearly and correctly.

I have homeschooled my 5th grader for three years. She was struggling with grammar until I got her this book. She is able to work almost completely independently. I also like how all writing can be done in the book, no need to keep a separate notebook. That makes homeschooling on the fly that much easier. She is happy whenever she sees it on her daily schedule, always does it without complaint, enjoys reading me the funny parts, and is learning. It is not what I would consider a rigorous curriculum and is probably better suited to a fourth or even third grade level, but we had not done grammar prior to this year and I am very pleased with it. I plan to use it for her younger brothers as well, and am looking at other books in the series.

My two (homeschooled) children ( ages 9 and 7) use these books for their grammar lessons and I am impressed with how engaging and fun it makes their lessons. I will definitely use these for my other children when they are old enough.

This book was average, but not above, in its approach to explaining grammar.

It might be good for a child who has had formal grammar training, but not so good for a beginner.

when kids understand grammer it makes english, writing, spelling, etc., soooo much easier! This book gives great examples and actually makes it fun to learn!

Musical Aura Island

This is a great workbook, our normally reluctant 4th grader is doing very well with it. The examples are fun and get to the point. We have worked about half way thru already and it looks to be pretty complete in it's contents.

This book is great because it gives building blocks that seem to be lacking in some schools. The focus in schools is on reading, but things like basic grammar seem to be shoved to the side. This book helps create a foundation for a strong reader by showing how words work in the english language.

The content of this book is good, and as expected. I ordered two, one for each of my elementary home school students. EACH book came with bent covers. One also had black ink spilled on the top of half of the pages, the other had a smudge of ink along the bottom. Fingerprints inside of one of the covers tells me I'm the second owner. I bought a NEW book, but that's not what I got...twice over, as I ordered two. They were not very expensive, so I will just keep them, but it makes me wonder...are these from a returned lot?
