Provides a fantastical tale in which a young girl dreams about a great adventure on the high seas with her friends where castles are built with moonbeams as stars shine brightly from the heavens.

Wonderful illustrations of one of my all-time favorite songs by Tom Paxton. I've sung "Jennifer's Rabbit" to my daughters and their children and all were VERY impressed that Mom/Nana had come up with pictures to go along with the song! The illustrations in this particular book are more concrete but still imaginative than in another copy I bought by a different illustrator. That one is beautiful too, and the illustrations in that one are more dreamlike - which does in fact fit the song. However, this one is my favorite of the two.

Love it. Paxton's song is brilliant and this book has great illustrations. We bought the book because our 4 year old memorized the lyrics:

I bought this for my 4-year-old grandson, who loves it. First we read it, then we sing it, then we listen to Tom Paxton singing the original version with different words on the "Morning Again" album. My heart belongs to the first Putnam version, which I bought for my children 40 years ago, but the illustrations for this edition are lovely and charming. This is a wonderful book.

I was creating a basket of books to give to a new grandmother. I saw this book at the library and thought it would be a great addition. Outstanding illustrations and imaginative story about a girl and her stuffed animals. I would have loved it when I was little!

Toddler grandson loves this beautiful picture book. We sing it together more than read it since he also loves the song!

In this little charmer the beautiful illustrations and the spritely lyrics that form the text share in the making of magic in equal proportion. Go along with Jennifer as she and her rabbit, a turtle, a kangaroo and seventeen monkeys from the city zoo take a wonderful journey o'er land and sea along the mysterious coasts of dreamland. The jaunty rhythm of the lyrics builds an atmosphere of adventure and fun while the pure poetry of the dreamy words sweeps us along with the action. The pictures are filled with waves, sea spray, pearly foam, glittering stars, castles and sailing ships with red sails. Tucked under cozy covers with this lovely story dancing in their hearts, little sleepy-heads will be off to dreamland themselves in no time! I love this book!
Jennifer's rabbit runs away one night and she chases after it with the help of her other stuffed animals. They follow the rabbit through the woods and on to a moonlit beach where they all stop long enough to build a beautiful sand castle. Next it's off to sail on a red sailed ship with a crew of friendly pirates. This is a gentle story told in verse. The BEAUTIFUL watercolor paintings of the very talented Elizabeth Miles, alone, make this book worth the price you pay for it. It will delight every child and make grown- ups wish they were children again!
