Huge hit with 3 and 5 year old grandsons. Not only large pop ups each page, but mini pop ups each page. Would have your hands handle with supervision.

Pop ups are fantastic, I bought this for my sister she is a Liberian in an elementary school. She said the kids always have it out. The detail is amazing.

My six-year old son said he wanted a "big ship book" for Christmas. The one my husband and I had decided on was out of stock so we chose this one instead & I am glad we did! The pop-ups are very detailed, though heavy compared to the paper so you have to be careful when opening the pages. There is a lot of history to keep our ship-obsessed son enteratined for a while. Overall, I would definitely suggest for anyone interested in the history and making of ships. A fun bonding book for kids & parents!

Kids loved it! Heck, I even loved it. So well made.

This book is a fascinating book presenting interesting artwork of boats made of thick paper that popup out as the pages are flipped, and some side pages.
Issue with book are as follows:
a. Center page popupouts do open and close properly as pages are flipped. However side page popouts open and close manually only. There is no mechanism while flipping the book to auto close the popouts. If you forget to close the artwork before flipping page, there is a good chance to do irreversibled damage to artwork.
b. Navy ship popup is way to complex, and is designed to rip.
c. There are not as many interesting facts or details to go with the book. It does not target an audience, either on construction of ships, or their era, or their usability.

That said, this book is the book that keeps my 5 year old very engaged.

Awesome book.

This is a great book. It was a christmas gift for an 8 year old boy and he absolutely loves it! He said this is the coolest pop up book he has every received. Something he will probably keep forever.
I have a collection of pop ups and marvel at the ingenious engineering in most of them,,,not this one however as it is hard to open and never seemed to fully come together,,,the Golden Hind and the modern warship were the worst. These books overall are very fragile and must be handled carefully, over use will damage them,,,the one I rec'd from Amazon was new still shrink wrapped but not easily accessible, a danger of tearing always present, I also note the Amazon description had nothing to do with the actual book as the ships Santa Maria,Normandy,Mayflower, and aircraft carrier were nowhere to be found,,the Titanic was mentioned but not with a pop up.
