No-one really knows what the future holds, but the reality now is that our urban spaces are overcrowded and polluted

No-one really knows what the future holds, but the reality now is that our urban spaces are overcrowded and polluted. Almost half of the world's population currently lives in cities, and by 2050 that is projected to increase to 75%, but what kind of city will they be living in? The time is ripe, say experts, to start designing smarter urban environments, both new cities needed to sustain an ever-growing population, and retro-fits on the ones that we have lived in for centuries.

Derek Haley is a normal seventeen year old senior at Harrison High School. Everyone sees him as a funny, outgoing, and confident student, but few people know some of the daily battles he faces when he is alone. No One Really Knows allows you to take a look inside the life of a high school student who has experienced the pains of failed relationships, the struggle of loss and addiction, and watch as he begins the journey toward redemption in Christ. Even when you feel like no one knows what you are facing, God knows and understands and He is waiting to help you walk the road of redemption and healing. "Leave it to Darrell Halk to capture the lives of real teenagers as they experience life and faith. Darrell has been in the trenches with teens for years walking with them through the trials, triumphs and tragedies of navigating a life of faith in Jesus Christ. No One Really Knows captures his insights along the way and offers real hope." - Mark Matlock, President, Wisdom Works Ministries & VP- Event Content at Youth Specialties "Darrell Halk has a remarkable testimony that every person should hear. He writes a heart warming story to share this testimony that will make you think of the roads available to you and your children. He eloquently describes his real life experiences without losing the reader in language that even most young people can understand. A must read if your trying to understand how life can deal us a difficult hand and how we can endure it." - Glenn Wilson, Former Major League Baseball Player"A great story of relationships, running, and redemption. Like Darrell's story, it took all of these things in my life and in my story to see the goodness and glory of Jesus. This story is a great read for any person who is searching, growing and seeking... it's honest and raw, hopeful and real. I left this story with a bittersweet reminder of my high school days and the people and situations God used in my life to bring me to the point of surrender." - John Sherrill, Traveling Worship Leader, johnsherrill.com "Darrell Halk deals head on with many of the challenges that teenagers face today. Challenges that Christian students are not immune from. A story that all of us can relate to that have struggled with giving God complete control." - Andy Morris, Executive Director, Mission Serve, mission-serve.com

I am a youth minister and recently had the opportunity to read this great book. Teenage years are crazy and this is a VERY relatable book for teenagers. The characters are friends we have all had, and the struggles are the same as well. It helps to let students know they are not alone, especially when it comes to their daily walk with Christ. If you are a parent, a teacher, a minister, or a student. I challenge you to read it yourself and then pass it on. This could be the book to help a struggling teenage Christian or the book to help them find Christ. I passed mine along to a student who was dealing with some of these same issues. Great book, own it.

"No One Really Knows" is about a seventeen year old high school senior, Derek Haley. In this book, we see the inward and outward struggles of this teenager and what causes him to fall off God's plan for his life. He puts off going back to God, thinking God will always take him back so why not wait til later. I think we all do that at some point in our life. Derek has many points in his life that are "rock bottom" places but the bad things don't stop until he realizes that he has truly hit rock bottom. I think this book can be encouraging for many people, from normal teenagers looking for an answer and even Christians can learn from this book, because we all aren't perfect. I think the story of Derek Haley is a powerful testimony on how a teenager caught up in all the wrong things, can still be used for the benefit of God's kingdom.

We've all been in Derek Haley's shoes, feeling like no one understands the turmoil and obstacles hidden in our own hearts, so it's really easy to connect with Derek. Personally, I read this book towards the end of a really rough time in my life and relationship with God, and I only wish I had read it sooner. The openness of the story and the insight into Derek's feelings and emotions really helped me understand my own feelings and some of the things that were lacking in my relationship with Jesus. Like Derek, many of us take for granted God's blessings and all He has done for us, and don't let God have complete control of our lives, leading us according to His will. We would rather do things on our own, hoping He is there when things get too tough. But this story doesn't end there. The highlight of this story is in the illustration of God's grace and everlasting love in forever changing the life of one of His children who chose to surrender it all to Him. All in all, this book touched and encouraged me in my life and walk with the God of this universe, and I have no doubt that it will do the same for all who read it :)

GREAT read!!!!!!
It's a great story that highlights the pressures, encounters, struggles, and stumbling blocks we all hit as we finish high school and start college; in young Derek's life as he "bottoms out" and finds redemption and direction.
Having been in several of the situations that Derek finds himself in (when I was at that point in my own life), I found it easy to relate to him and to what was going on. Very easy to follow, a flowing storyline, and quick to finish.
Overall, though, it makes you THINK about where you are in your life and what you can do. In my case, the best way to describe it is that I'm wandering around in a pitch-black room, and somebody just (BING!) turned on a light.
We all have those moments in our life, and it's great to read Darrell's story through the words of Derek. So do yourself a favor and read the book. If you like or dislike the book---God bless you! :)

One of the best reads I've had in a really long time, because it stays honest throught the plot about the realistic life of struggling high schoolers, and is very motivating and moving at times. In our culture, ideas of loneliness, and struggling outlined in this book get overlooked, that is why this book is a great culture shock, especially in the world of Christianity, leaders overlook students, and don't realize what they are doing is overlooking future leaders, such as the character in this book, who was misled and overlooked at times, when they had no idea the impact he was to make, great testimony to gods plan! Great book!

I have to admit that I am not a big reader, simply because I usually dont have a whole lot of time to sit long enough to finish a book. 'No One Really Knows' was one of the best that I have read in a very long time. It is a book that will have you laughing and crying. I could not have received this book at a better time in my life, it has me searching to make sure I am keeping an open heart and mind as to what God has planned for my life. I have told everyone I know that they need to get this book and read it, that they will be amazed at how it may touch your heart in ways you are not expecting it too. I assure you that if you purchase this book you will not regret it.

No matter what stage of life you are at right now YOU need this book! I think we are guilty of trying to take control of our life and treat God like a sidekick instead of letting him guide us. It takes effort to take that leap and fully surrender and you'll have no idea until you take that step and realize how completely worth it it is to have God in control. This book takes you through the life of a teenager who learned through many "wake up calls" how to give it all to God and live by God's grace instead of his own fear. This book helped awaken me in areas of my life and I hope it blesses you in many ways too :)
I enjoyed No One Really Knows - its a rare, honest story of a high school boy dealing with the typical struggles of adolescence. What I appreciated about the story was that main character doesn't allow succeed in his attempts to resist temptation - he fails, as we all do. But the message is clear: God saves all.

A fantastic read for any high school student. A fast read too - you won't be able to put it down.
