The touching and sensitively articulated feelings and ideas contained in Books, One, Two and Three of : "A CHILD'S OWN BOOK OF VERSE" seem to come from another time and place on this Earth.
One could call it a time when time seemed to pass more slowly, when the world was less frenetic, in every way, when people had more time to stop and greet their neighbors and, yes- stop to smell the flowers and see faces in the clouds.
Some might read the many precious verses in the wonderful Three Book Set: "A CHILD'S OWN BOOK OF VERSE" and think the verses "dated" and/or "Old Fashioned" in some way- more is the pity.
The great English Poet William Wordsworth observed similar sentiments in one of his own poems remarking on his own times.
But it seems things have become increasingly worse in the age of instant travel and instant communication via devices in our pockets and now even worn on our wrists.
What a tearful tragedy that so few Mothers and Fathers today sit by the bedside of their children in the evening, in the world today and take the time to read such verses as are found in these three splendid volumes.
I recall them all well from my own early childhood but sadly most parents today are not even aware such priceless books of verse even exist- much less take the time to read these wonderful words and inspiring thoughts to those they love most in the world.
One might well be advised to take the time to pause and read again one of William Wordsworth's most important short poems.

The World Is Too Much With Us

By William Wordsworth 1770–1850

The world is too much with us; late and soon,
Getting and spending, we lay waste our powers;—
Little we see in Nature that is ours;
We have given our hearts away, a sordid boon!
This Sea that bares her bosom to the moon;
The winds that will be howling at all hours,
And are up-gathered now like sleeping flowers;
For this, for everything, we are out of tune;
It moves us not. Great God! I’d rather be
A Pagan suckled in a creed outworn;
So might I, standing on this pleasant lea,
Have glimpses that would make me less forlorn;
Have sight of Proteus rising from the sea;
Or hear old Triton blow his wreathèd horn.

Great!
