Louis Sachar likes to play tricks on and confuse his readers, but that makes readers think and have their own opinions about what's going to happen. I liked this book because it was funny. It had things that weren't true, like UFOs. I especially liked when Louis, the silly yard teacher, turns into Mr. Poop, the Professional Playground Supervisor.
You should read this book if you like fiction and adventure. I rate this book five stars because there is a lot of funniness... and ears!

Why is the book itself small shaped compared to the other two books? It would be better if the book size (not talking about pages but physical size) was larger so it's easier to hold for kids. I know when I read I prefer larger books, easier to hold open.

I liked this book because it was funny. The chapters are like their own little stories. My favorite one of the three is Sideways Stories from Wayside School, but they were all good. I think this book is good for all ages. The book takes place in a school that is 30 stories tall with a classroom on each floor.

I originally checked this out of the library for our summer vacation. I was surprised to find that not only did my children enjoy it, but my husband and I also found it very entertaining. It is filled with subtle jokes like the color coded elevator that only goes one direction. The series of substitute teachers all with some funny twist, such as an extra nose or ear, but that is not the strange part. These substitutes have special powers and the students at Wayside School are thier unwitting victims. We enjoyed hours of jokes and the kids were not glued to the DVD. The best part - no one got car sick. :)

Hilarious. We love this series, I’m reading it to my five year old son and it’s just the right amount of silly and naughty to keep him interested.

Christmas gift for grandson who loved the first two books in the series. He is anxiously waiting to see if Santa is going to bring it. His dad loved the stories too at his age.
