I discovered in the fifth grade that I enjoyed explaining things and writing reports for school. Frizzle. She loved her subject. Every week she had a child do an experiment in front of the room, and I always wanted to be that child. Grade school was very important to me - maybe that's why I ended up writing books for children as an adult.

The Magic School Bus is a series of children's books about science, written by Joanna Cole and illustrated by Bruce Degen. They feature the antics of Ms. Valerie Frizzle and her class, who board a sentient anthropomorphic Type A school bus which takes them on field trips to impossible locations, including the solar system, clouds, the past, and the human body. The books are written in the first person from the point of view of an unnamed student in "the Friz's" class.

We are big fans of the Magic School Bus series. This is the only one I've found that is simple, and geared toward three and four year-olds. The text is not as busy, and the vocabulary is less complicated than the regular Magic School Bus books. However, it's also not as interesting or informative - this hasn't become a big favorite at our house, but I'm glad we read it a couple of times.

The lessons are always entertaining when you're in Mrs. Frizzle's class. This time the class is studying snow, but there is no snow outside. Time for a trip in the Magic School Bus! In the cold north air, the students have exciting adventures in the snow, then return to the bus for hot chocolate.

Since most of the Magic School Bus series is written for 3rd to 5th graders, it is nice to see that they have written for the younger reader, also. This is a Level 2 reader, and even pre-readers would enjoy hearing the story read to them. Ages 4-8.

My kids love anything from the Magic School Bus collection and this one is especially fun. Very colorful and detailed and a good choice for young readers. This is a good book for early readers and would be about a level 2.
These books are great! The kids love them, and they learn a lot as they read.
