She is an honors graduate from the Norwich School of Art and Design, and she presents her books and gives workshops at festivals, bookstores, schools, and activity centers throughout the U. .This is a really nice book. Also since she is just about to turn 2 and it is almost summer, I wanted her to become more at ease with the idea of swimming. When I read this book too her she becomes so excited.

I purchased this book (along with many others) before my son was born. He is now 9 months old and will choose this book over any other to read. It is by far his favorite book. This book is filled with bright, colorful illustrations that keep his attention and provide plenty to look at. In adition, the text is not overwhelming or lengthy. The fast pace of the book also helps keep his attention. I wish there were more Japanese - English books available for young children and babies. This is a great resource for bi-racial families like ours.

I bought this book to start a Turkish book collection. 1st page I read is way off translation! Not even close. I cannot believe this! On the 1st page this is what it says in Turkish; One day Chameleon said: "How would be nice to swim!" Lizard says " all you have to do is try" & in English it says; "can you teach me to swim?" asks Chameleon. "Of course" says salamander. You see how they are off? Not even the translation the action even is bad in this book. What a waste of money!!! I am so disappointed. People who doesn't know the language or doesn't know what the author is trying to say, then DO NOT translate! Just very angry!

There is not a whole lot to this book, but I like it. The story and pictures are very simple, but for a 6 to 24 month old baby, I think they're fine. This book probably would not retain the interest of a child beyond the age of two. The book has a total of approximately seven sentences in French, and seven similar sentences in English (I do not think the translations are exact). Every page shows the Chameleon and his salamander friend in the water, moving forward, or backward, or twirling, etc. Like I said, the story is very simple. The pictures all look similar. But I really like the cheerful, yet mellow shades of blue and green that are used, I like that the story is given in both languages, and the boardbook is a nice size for little hands.

This is a really nice book. I bought it because I speak portugues with my daughter all the time so she can learn to be fluent in 2 languages. Also .... since she is just about to turn 2 and it is almost summer, I wanted her to become more at ease with the idea of swimming.

When I read this book too her she becomes so excited. She laughs and giggles everytime she sees the illustrations on certain pages. The illustrations are very colorful and her attention is glued to the pages while we read. She loves to imitate the motions of the Chameleon and Salamander.

I highly recommend this book... especially if your little one has a bit of concern about water. Another book to check out is Stella, Star of the Sea!!!! (all Stella books are great!)

My wife is Japanese and when we first had kids we decided to bring them up speaking both Japanese and English equally. It's difficult to find quality books in a bi-lingual (Japanese/English) format. This book and others in the same series/same authors are great! The kids love hearing the story in both languages, and we love to watch them learn, reading it in one language and asking them to explain it to us in the other language. GREAT!

I found several spelling errors in the Persian text. In one case the word for Chameleon is spelled wrong - the main character. And in other cases it looks as if the publisher used Arabic analogues for letters instead of the Persian equivalent. I'm not sure, I don't know Arabic. But you can see this on the cover of the book: at the end of the title where it says "mi konad" mi has two dots underneath it, which I think is normal for Arabic, but incorrect for Persian. This is persistent through the book's 10-or-so pages.

I have an autistic son and words mean a lot to him. This book being in two languages was very fascinating for him to read. It was simple and cute and very colorful. My other son enjoyed it as well and we would definitely recommend it.
I love the concept, and the effort. But the choice of a chameleon, not a prominent creature in South Asian culture, is a bit puzzling. Add to that the slightly stilted translation - as if run through google translator, rather than something more conversational and appropriate for children.
