So the moose finishes the vegetables and starts on the wildflowers before Rebecca and her dog can chase him away. The family is suitably impressed to find the garden laid waste (no footprints, however)-but Rebecca is too busy building her rocket ship to tell them what happened. Alexander's soft illustrations are just right for this amusing modern twist on the fable of the boy who cried wolf; the fact that she has lived in Alaska lends an intriguing ambiguity.

GoodLike
I have always liked Martha Alexander books, and this is one of my favorites. I was glad I was able to find a copy for my collection. Thank you!
Realistic
This book is great for kids from Northern Ontario because moose in the backyards actually happen. It's cute and frustrating for the little girl in the story who doesn't get taken seriously. Fortunately, Rebecca gets the last laugh.
