Leonard Baskin (August 15, 1922 – June 3, 2000) was an American sculptor, illustrator, printmaker, writer and teacher. Throughout his career, Baskin maintained a commitment to the superiority of figurative art, and to the theme of human mortality. Leonard Baskin was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, the son of a rabbi who then moved to New York when Baskin was seven.
