This fascinating insight into the beginnings of the conflict also explains what about the land is so important today. In addition, Wright sheds light on the conflicting Jewish, Christian, and Islamic perspectives and answers the question, Does God play favorites?

This is such a good resource to sort through the issues of the Middle East. It is Biblically based and well annotated for sources. Going all the way back to Abraham and Sarah in Genesis, we can see how both sons of Abraham and their descendents set out on different paths and different nations to create the turmoil today. As a Christian, I was struck by how Abraham's and Sarah's decision to help God instead of waiting on God to make His promise come true affects us so profoundly today.

The book is easy to follow and it inspired me to dig into the Old Testament. There was a bit of repetition, but that helped me to follow the story, and the author's thought process, without having to page back for reminders. I would have enjoyed more detail on the Islamic perspective; that section of the book included a lot of facts in a relatively short chapter, so I will have to study it a bit further. I like this author, because he is straight-forward about his Christian perspective, he provides Biblical context, and he explains scriptures without stretching metaphors and searching for hidden meanings. Since I am a Christian as well, it helped me to put Biblical teachings into chronological order. It read like a novel, so I went through it in about 3 days.

I felt like this book was speaking directly to me. I have read other works that cover some of these topics, but those subjects are more readily understood here. I have not started the study portion, but I will.

I have a close relationship with one of Bryant 's cousins, Steve Atwill, he is the reason I read this book and will read the new one too.

I had heard bits of what Bryant wrote about as a member of his congregation for many years. In the book he tied it all together so well. He researched the topic and put everything down in a concise and easy to understand format.
Should be required reading for anyone who is dealing with the Middle East.
