Charles Sherlock Fillmore (August 22, 1854 – July 5, 1948) founded Unity, a church within the New Thought movement, with his wife, Myrtle Page Fillmore, in 1889. He became known as an American mystic for his contributions to spiritualist interpretations of biblical Scripture. He was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota on August 22, 1854. An ice skating accident when he was ten broke Fillmore's hip and left him with lifelong disabilities.

This book is one of the most life changing books I've ever read! I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to live above the "normal" life that so many of us are stuck in! Written years ago, it is still for today!

This New Thought book,with deep Christian connections is a winner. Fillmore's writings teach about the man who is drawn to sensation, the material man versus the spiritual one. Riches lay in ideas, not hoarding or a love of money. Fear of lack of money and poverty stem from our racial thoughts and we have every right to think differently, to think and persist with higher ideas and ideals.
Many of Jesus's parables come to light in a very mystical profound teaching style. Fillmore goes beyond the appearances of things and understands on a deeper level what it means to be rich. Highly recommended!

What an amazing book to publish in the midst of the depression! Its tenets still hold true to this day. Using affirmative prayer and claiming your good will reap wonders in your life. Unity co-founder, Charles Filmore, presents a different way to look at prosperity, how to receive it, and how to use it. These words still ring true to this generation. A great read. Language is slightly antiquated, but again, remember it was written and published during the Great Depression

I have now read all of Charles Fillmore's books and, hands down, this is his best work in my opinion. His thoughts flow from one idea to the next and his explanations are understandable (not the case with some of his other writings). Some of his language is dated, of course, but his thoughts are surprisingly modern.

If you are familiar with some of the current prosperity teachers like Abraham (Money, and the Law of Attraction: Learning to Attract Wealth, Health, and Happiness [...]) then much of what Mr. Fillmore writes will feel amazingly similar; it is stunning to think he wrote this book nearly a century ago. He really was a mystic of sorts.

The difference between Mr. Fillmore's book and today's prosperity teachers is that his offering is centered around the teachings of Jesus Christ (from a metaphysical and metaphorical, not a literal or historical, standpoint), rather than the more universal language of Abraham and others today.

However, Mr. Fillmore began one of the most liberal churches in this country (Unity at [...]) and he is definitely not a biblical fundamentalist. So, if you what to gain a deeper understanding of the abundance and prosperity (in finances, health, relationships, etc.) in your life from a Christian oriented perspective, I highly recommend this book. I have read it once, and now I plan to go back through it with a highlighter. It is a book I expect to re-read many, many times.

Mr. Fillmore's second best book, in my opinion, is Jesus Christ Heals (Unity Classic Library). The biography of his life The Spiritual Journey of Charles Fillmore: Discovering the Power Within by Neal Vahle is also well worth reading.

This is a must-read for the serious student of New Thought Christianity. While I enjoy reading modern authors, the timeless truths of New Thought are most eloquently given voice in the classics: H. Emilie Cady, Ernest Holmes, Emma Curtis Hopkins, Emmet Fox, Emerson to name a few. The truths found in this book will change your life.

Charles Fillmore the co-founder of Unity shares some very basic principles on prosperity which rally align with truth in my opinion, this book combined with Eric Butterworth's Spiritual Economics really changed my life!
