If you are a Christian woman who needs help redefining your purpose in life because you don't have children, BUY this book. If you are a wife and/or mother who is tired of society (NC17 & violent media, TV, video, music, etc) defining you....and you/your childrens wants and needs, this is the book for you too.
The author presents common sense in a friendly, motherly way and, at the same time, in a shockingly straight-forward manner with frequent support she draws from scripture. She views most things in black and white and can be somewhat tactless in phrasing some of her more stark conclusions. Many of her points are valid though. The primary actions she suggest will go a long way toward simplifying and bringing new meaning into your life. Many alternative activities are provided from lots of sources.
This is a book that I found (and still find) difficult to absorb at times. I usually read a few pages and then work on absorbing it for several days. It can be difficult to face the responsiblity of your own actions and how they affect others around you, including your spouse and children. The book stresses parental & personal responsibility. She stresses repeatedly that a parent's job is hard work and lots of it.
One final note: if you are desperate to have a child by any means necessary....I recommend that you check the book out of a local library first. This book offers you options that you may not want to hear and thus, not pay for. You may find this book brings you insight you never thought possible and decide to purchase it after all. I did.

Mary has a wonderful down-to-earth way of talking to you as though you are talking with a trusted friend. She is also very straight forward in a "Dr. Laura" sort of way. DEAD-SHOT
If you don't like what this woman has to say you are probably under conviction and unwilling to release your freedom to be an obedient servant of God. I have reached many of the same conclusions myself. It took me three years and alot of struggle to get through this book. I threw it across the room more than once. My husband has even struggled with it. But we went back to scripture everytime and kept being called back to this book. Reading Mary's book has reassured me that all scripture is valid even today. It's a pity every woman by age 15 has not been made to study these concepts, fully understand her God given role in life and how exciting it truely can be. Now if we women of today would just pick up the baton and run the race, as Mary has clearly outlined for us in her book, God would bless our families and children again. If you are hungry to see God's hand in your life, Mary has written a beautiful book calling women back to the place God prepared for us in the begining. Buy this and let the rebuke and encouragement draw you back to the 66 books that make up our Bible and guide our lives in the path God has laid out for us as women.

I was very happy to finally get this book and now I want it out of my house as soon as possible. A word to the wise; do not read this if you are having fertility problems or have had an abortion in your past. Your burdens will be alot heavier from the writings of this compassionless woman. For example, on infertility due to a past abortion: "These people were just not meant by God to have children, for reasons that should be obvious." Later on in the book she goes to the doctor with her perfectly behaved children and revels in the compliments she receives. Oh, and by the way, if you raise your children to be Christians, and they reject the faith, it is YOUR fault parents. No kidding.

What a tremendous book for any serious minded Christian, who wants to order his family along biblical lines. Mary's hard-line stance on many issues may offend some, but her entirely biblical perspective is a wake-up call to all who want to make a difference in our society through the way we build and maintain our families. I highly recommend this book!

....but critical of those who don't have a home birth, homeschool, or those who even dare THINK of working outside the home.
