First of all I look at Dr.Stanley as a teacher. This book is just one of many of his titles I have read. I had become some what lost in my prayer life.I was not communicating, just talking. If you read this book you will start speaking with God in a complete new way. It is amazing how well this man understands not only God, but what we need to know in order to live a life with our Creator like we never expected. Please read this book. You will step away refreshed and ready for what ever life throws your way.

There are some real gold nuggets in this book. We used this for weekly small group meetings and each week was a great learning experience, although soMe chapters were better than others. Our group was lively in discussion on prayer generating a keener understanding of the how and why to pray. I grew in my understanding of daily thanksgiving to God. I've always been thankful for every day but I've come to a greater awe of the wonder of life. The down side was minimal but there were a few chapters that did not fully resonate with me. Dr. Stanley using his own experience was sometimes slow and I wish he would have used more current events to pull out God's work. However, he used specific bible phases and events which was great for depth in study and for reference in the future. Overall I give this a strong 4 stars!

This is a really great book. I love Charles Stanley. I bought the e-book and loved it so much I wanted the boom to. the prayers at the end of each section are beautiful. I also love his stories about his mother's faith. she sounds amazing . I know it would be stressful to lose your husband and to have the burden of a brokenheart along with the responsibility of raising a child and having to provide financially. his testimonies of God providing for them through that time is beautiful.

Mr. Stanley writes about the benefits of prayer. I find the book to have real depth and meaning. It is a very gentle guide to what prayer is and the many ways to accomplish prayer. We read about the benefit of prayer to the pray-er, too. It's a very good guide, a helpful aide. The book is easy to read, yet I get drawn deeply into it every time I pick it up.

The author talks too, about impediments to prayer and closeness to the Father. He takes a very helpful look at the attitudes we bring to prayer, what affects them, and how to change them.

I recommend this book highly for any denomination of Christian.

Charles Stanley is a wonderful author and you can fell God flows through him. He is helps in so many ways, with his preaching, writing, etc. It is a very good book. Remember the only way to Heaven is though Christ Jesus our Lord and not of works. John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that that he gave his only begotten so and whosoever believeth in shall have ever lasting life. Just pray and and and ask Jesus in your life and you will have ever lasting life.

I was looking for something for my friend to read while recooperating from back surgery. I liked this book so well, I bought the Kindle edition for myself. Scripture-filled, enc ouragingt words from Dr. Stanley, makes this the perfect addition to your library. A perfect quiet time reading, Dr. Stanley writes in the same soothing tone as he speaks. Such a contrast from loud, in-your-face doctrines, this gentle soul reminds us that it is our priveledge and command from God to "humble ourselves and seek His face" in every area of our lives. Theere is power in prayer when we put our faith to test and lay every burden at the foot of the cross.

I found this book to be very helpful. Charles Stanley is one of my favorite TV preachers and the book didn't disappoint. It's very approachable and still full of wisdom.
