I purchased this book several years ago when my family and I were just beginning to learn about the Biblical Holidays, and it has proven to be an invaluable resource! My copy is dog-eared from use, and full of bookmarks and notes. It is geared toward young families, but can really be beneficial to people of all ages and stages of life because of the wealth of information presented. I appreciate how the book is organized, and includes sections for each holiday about the purpose of the holiday, the holiday in Bible times, Jewish customs of the holiday today, and the messianic significance of the holiday. Then there are suggestions for celebrating each holiday, which include recipes, crafts, and much more. I have yet to find another book like this one, with so much information and so many ideas about the Biblical Holidays. It is a wonderful addition to any Christian's library, especially if you are interested in and/or beginning to learn about God's holy days. Learning about these days has made a huge impact on my family...changed our lives completely, in fact.

WHAT EVERY CHRiSTIAN HOME SHOULD HAVE! I've had this book for years. Book is big, thick and an easy read. Even has pictures, activities and reproducible pages! Introduce Biblical Holidays (no, not xmas, easter and the like…but ACTUAL Biblical holidays) to your family. This delves into God's Word, Christian/jewish history. Great to incorporate into a homeschool curriculum or just use as a family.
Nothing personal
I am very, very please with this book, far more than I expected to be after a few bad reviews that I saw. I am going to address those bad reviews first, since I am guessing a lot of other shoppers tend to look at bad reviews before good reviews when purchasing stuff off Amazon (like me!).

Someone mentioned in the bad reviews that the author does not distinguish between man made traditions and biblical laws, this is not true. They do a very good job of stating what is biblical and what is not, Passover is a good example. One (maybe both?) of the authors stated the use of an egg during the Seder and the Judaic meaning of the egg, but then went on to state that their family has opted out of using the egg because the authors believe the tradition was started by pagan influences. As a negative commentor stated, they felt this was a compilation of a lot of works by other people, I agree. I also noticed that it tends to have a lot of quotes and paragraphs from other writings. The author(s) do a great job of documenting where works were from and that makes it easily research-able if you want to continue on beyond this book. I have no issue with the compilation, it has made it far easier for me to be able to prepare for the upcoming Passover because I now do not need to read a stack full of books. If I decide to research further (and I likely will), I have a great starting point now.

This book is larger than I expected, the size of a text book, with a lot of info about history, traditions of men vs. biblical laws, Messianic meanings, crafts, printing pages, recipes, songs and a bunch of other things that I am not writing down in this review. It is obvious that the book is meant for families who want to either understand the Holy Days, or like our family has felt that we should observe the feast days that God originally instituted for his people, but with the understanding of how Christ was the focus of all of it long before He died on the cross. Our family does not have Jewish roots so we really had NO CLUE what we were doing, how we were supposed to do and the meaning behind it. I got this book in the mail just two days ago and I have already read nearly half the book, I cant put it down (except to write this review, hee hee)! I am in so much awe about how Awesome our God is, that He has given so much attention to so much, Holy Days included. For any family that wants to follow the Hebrew roots style, this book is a must have, it will simplify things for you and make it so much easier to understand and will make the whole experience something to really look forward to, rather than feeling like you are floundering with what, when, why and how to do what you are trying to do.

With all that said, I would like to mention that if you don't have children that you are trying to teach these Holy Days too, or trying to get a crash course in the feast day(s) of your choice, this book may not be of much interest to you, it is clearly geared for busy families with Children who don't understand the feast day and their meanings.

This book is well written and a treasury of information, citing many other resources a family could use if they desired to research further. It is organized like a text book, complete with curriculum supplements for teaching a class or using for homeschooling. We greatly appreciate the author not only explaining their ideas, but citing sources from the Bible and other texts to back up their research. Easy to understand and thoroughly enjoyable. I wish I had come across this book years ago!

We own this and have purchased it twice for friends. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in celebrating or learning more about the Biblical holidays. Excellent investment and really needs to be on any homeschooler's bookshelf as well.

Excellent for homeschooling or teaching your family or group about the Biblical Holy Days! This is my second one.
This is an exceptional book for families and churches who wish to accurately explore the Jewish Roots of the Faith. Scarlotta purposely allows for photocopying of pages and crafts, etc. for teaching children.
