First Sunday in October - Wanda B. Campbell. Chapter 1. No, not now, Julia groaned as the alarm clock went off. She stretched her arms above her head and squinted at the big red bold numbers. It couldn’t be 6:00 . Julia was genuinely happy for the joy and peace her friend had found at True Worship. Nikki talked nonstop about her new church.

Wanda B. I have been in love with the Simone/Pennington's since reading The First Sunday in October. I knew Julia and Alysse were some powerful, charismatic women, but I found myself tickled at these two the whole story.

Julia Simone has been thru some very hard times. Her first husband died, leaving her a single parent; her second husband was an abusive man. She has overcome all those difficulties and is now very successful. Julia has everything she could ever want: a beautiful daughter, a loving family, a best friend, and is financially sound. First Sunday in October is a realistic portrayal of Christians in love. This is an excellent first offering by wanda b. Reverend Reginald Pennington is a young preacher who for the past five years has led a growing, spirit-filled congregation. A romance novel based upon christian principles, IT is clean, there is no profanity nor explicit sexual descriptions, nor ethically questionable plots. Owning a thriving business and having financial security may afford Paige McDaniels the finer things in life, but it does very little to ease the guilt and shame of her biggest regret. Ordained Minister Wanda B. Campbell (Illusions) serves up another strong story of loss and redemption sure to invoke a sense of joy and hope that no matter how bad things get, there's always a "silver lining. The "honeymoon glow" isn't even off blushing new bride Marlissa Scott-Jennings' face when the dark demons of inadequacy emerge from her past.

The only thing missing from her life is a true love, but Julia has given up on ever finding that. Rev. Reginald Pennington is a man with a past that would surprise many. He is ashamed of his past, but he is now a different man. He is a man with a purpose - to spread the word of God. When his path crosses with Julia's, the electricity between them is very evident to everyone but him. He keeps her at arms length, wanting to be with her but telling himself he has no plans to get involved. Julia and Reggie become fast friends after a business deal between her company and his church. At first, they tell themselves it is merely friendship. Julia's feelings change when Reggie sends mixed signals. Each has a past that they must come to terms with; things for which they must forgive themselves in order to move forward. Life altering events bring surprises and sorrow that test their faith in God, themselves, and each other.

It takes a special kind of author to pen a story that is so beautifully written. That author is Wanda B. Campbell!

There were times when Julia and Reggie were so stubborn that I wanted to just take them by their heads and knock them together. But that would've killd the beauty in this story. Wanda allowed the beauty of the story to drip from her pen, making it a perfect love story.

The chemistry between these two was obvious but their self control and respect for the Higher power was right on point. I recommed this book for anyone who loves a good romance.

Congrats Wanda, this is a wonderfully told story and I look forward to your next offering!

First Sunday in October is a realistic portrayal of Christians in love. Reverend Reginald Pennington is a young preacher who for the past five years has led a growing, spirit-filled congregation. Reggie is also very physically appealing and most of the young women in his congregation have dreams of marrying him. However, Reggie is single-mindedly focused on his church. He also has a secret he has not forgiven himself for that stops him from truly living.

Julia Simone is an extremely wealthy business-owner. She was married and widowed at a very young age. She has one daughter, Shay, who is now in college. She also had a second, abusive marriage and has kept herself away from relationships for years. Now at forty, she is ready for love but does not know if she can trust.

A series of circumstances bring Reggie and Julia together and though they are taken in by the other's spirituality and attractiveness, they both decide they can not have a relationship with the other. However, they are unable to stay apart, so they decide to be, `Just Friends.' Of course, their feelings grow but they are plagued by misunderstanding and miscommunications. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this realistically, portrayed book of how Christians date, while also seeing portrayals of real people and their struggles. Ms. Campbell penned a wonderfully, romantic, spirit-filled first novel.

I recommend First Sunday in October to those who enjoy Christian Fiction and to anyone who enjoys a well-told romantic story.

Julia Simone appeared to have everything a woman desired in life; she had a wonderful and loving family and a successful career and company. She was a single parent and her life revolved around making sure her daughter Shay had all the opportunities she deserved. After Shay is away in college and Julia has reached her goals with her career, she senses a void in her life and she doesn't know how to fill it.

Julia meets Rev. Reginald Pennington, a powerful up-and-coming minister. It is love at first sight when they meet, but neither realize it because they are not looking for love at this time, or so they think. Both have issues of forgiveness and reconciliation they must resolve before they can move their friendship to the next level. They manage to work together on these issues to both realize that they are indeed soul mates God has put together for a reason. Together they are a good team and with the family involved, they are strong enough to face all obstacles thrown at them.

Wanda B. Campbell has done a wonderful job with FIRST SUNDAY IN OCTOBER, her debut novel. She told a story of two people who had never experienced true love and how with forgiveness and reconciliation of past wrongs true love it is really worth waiting on. She pulled you into the lives of the characters and made you feel as though you knew them. I look forward to her next project.

First Sunday in October presents a view of the purity that can be had in a relationship between a man and woman.

Julia Simone is not the ordinary woman. Her outer persona is the reflection of a successful woman in total control of her surroundings. The same can be said for Pastor Reginald Pennington.

The two are mature and know what they want out of life. Through happenstance they enter into a business agreement. Exposure to one another opens the door to possibilities beyond business. It will be Pastor Pennington's preconceived notion of who she is and the truth of what he expects that jeopardizes what could be. Additionally each has a past that is blocking their way to true happiness.

Unlike most romance novels, First Sunday in October takes its characters and readers through the process of becoming a friend and then growing through friendship. As like turns to love the story is not infiltrated with the trappings of steamy date nights and/or gratuitous bedroom scenes. Combining biblical truths with a strong storyline Author Campbell has presented a tale well worth reading.

This was an excellent read. The more I read the more I wanted to read. Wanda B. Campbell did a wonderful job of sharing a story of love. Anyone who has given up on finding the person God has for them will be encouraged to know that even when we give up hope God still remembers our needs.
THIS IS AN EXCELLENT FIRST OFFERING BY WANDA B. CAMPBELL. A ROMANCE NOVEL BASED UPON CHRISTIAN PRINCIPLES, IT IS CLEAN, THERE IS NO PROFANITY NOR EXPLICIT SEXUAL DESCRIPTIONS, NOR ETHICALLY QUESTIONABLE PLOTS. IT WAS A GOOD READ AND I ENJOYED IT THOROUGHLY. FOR THOSE WHO NEED A BREAK FROM THE SMUT THAT MOST ROMANCE NOVELIST PEDDLE TO THE PUBLIC, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND READING FIRST SUNDAY IN OCTOBER, AND KEEP YOUR EYE OUT FOR ADDITIONAL WRITINGS FROM THIS DYNAMIC YOUNG AUTHOR.
