The Saucy Sisters' Guide to Wine ebook

by Beverley Wichman,Barbara Nowak

I have a surprise for you guys who think The Saucy Sisters' Guide to Wine is just for women.

I have a surprise for you guys who think The Saucy Sisters' Guide to Wine is just for women. It's a great read for guys, too. I not only found it hilarious, but actually learned a good deal about wine and the opposite sex. In a recent movie, Mel Gibson had the ability to hear what women were thinking. and how wine plays into everything from popularity and love to sex and health.

This book comes from my "I want to learn about wine" phase. There was a little bit of info about wine and a lot of chatter about "choosing your own path" or "going with what you like" and similar stuff.

I had the privilege of meeting Barbara Nowak and her sister Beverley Wichman at Grapefest in Grapevine, TX a number of years ago. Bought the book, and have thoroughly enjoyed all of it. Each chapter is a different wine topic: restaurant etiquette, guide to varieties of wine, etc. But written in a flowing, easygoing style. I have a surprise for you guys who think The Saucy Sisters' Guide to Wine is just for women.

This is my favorite basic book on wine, the title is silly, Id feel better carrying it around if it was something more serious, but the content is great. The information is good and its layout in an easy to understand way, there are also fun recipes and things.

This was said to be like new and had water damage but it was signed by both of the Authors so it balanced out ok

we read this for book club. The story & guide is okay, but I didn't need this information. Light & easy read

This book has zero pretension and only seeks to pass on the authoresses love of wine and good company to readers!

I began reading books on wine when I began to crave more knowledge about the beverage which I was beginning to REALLY enjoy in my middle-aged years. I didn't care much for wine when I was younger. Those were my coca-cola years. I wanted something with more depth, nuance, subtlety, history, etc. when I decided to give wine another try. The books out there are vast and varied from wine snobs to wine slobs and everything in between. I had read quite a few of them before stumbling onto the Saucy Sisters Guide to Wine.

Barbara and Beverly take a subject with the potential to drown you in unecessary trivia and facts and make it as friendly as a plate of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies still warm from the oven. They poke fun, they crack jokes and they invite you into their hearts, their homes and their world of wine enjoyment with the welcoming embrace of family at a reunion.

I learned more from this book than from the thousands of pages I'd read before and I enjoyed it INFINITELY more!!! If you only have the time and/or inclination to read ONE book about wine, make it this one. You won't regret it!!! If you find you still want more, you'll find them in the most recent updated version of Everything Wine Book: From Chardonnay to Zinfandel, All You Need to Make the Perfect Choice (Everything: Cooking) and on their website[...].

I have the chapter for building you home wine cellar marked, and have most of the wine listed (done in generalities) and enjoy tasting more to add to the collection. I highly recommend this book for any woman who wants to learn more about wine but is turned off by the wine terms and pretentiousness evident in most wine publications.

This book is so entertaining that you don't realize how much you are learning. I wish all my schoolbooks could have been written with so much humor and pizazz,I would have learned a lot more
and had a lot more fun doing it. Every paragraph makes you laugh, learn and easily comprehend a very complicated subject matter.
The writing is superb, the content complete, they thought of everything, even answers to questions most people wouldn't even think of asking. This book has all the right elements - plot, drama, humor, history, and sex, assembled in a way that makes it easy to digest and enjoyable to read. Keep it handy for reference, and to liven up a party.
I plan to keep several on hand to give as gifts to my friends who enjoy books and wine as much as I do. As with all good books I hated to finish it - knowing how really hard it is to find a REALLY good read. It makes me hungry for more - what's next, Sisters?

I have a surprise for you guys who think The Saucy Sisters' Guide to Wine is just for women. It's a great read for guys, too. I not only found it hilarious, but actually learned a good deal about wine and the opposite sex. In a recent movie, Mel Gibson had the ability to hear what women were thinking. Now us guys have the opportunity to read what women are thinking... and how wine plays into everything from popularity and love to sex and health. On page 34, I discovered that, because I enjoy Cabernet Sauvignon, I'm a bit abrasive and immature... but that my depth of character reveals me to be an asset in business and financial concerns... a man who is good for the long haul. Because I also like merlot, I'm supposed to be passionate with music and food. Maybe that's why I write and sing love songs. All jokes aside, this is the perfect gift to give your girlfriend, wife, friend, sister and mother... or anyone else you'd like to see "uncorked." Congratulations wine divas on one of the best books ever written in this genre.
I loved this book!! The humorous style in this book is entertaining but does not detract from the valuable information in it. My husband liked it also (so it is a book for men as well). The Saucy Sisters take the mystique out of wine selections and etiquette, without removing the romance associated with enjoying a good (not necessarily expensive) bottle of wine with that special person! Buy this book and be able to converse intelligently with that wine snob that you dread seeing at parties!
