The artwork by Ken Bald, veteran comics artist of iconic Golden Age covers among other things, is quite good. The stories are so-so, but better written than the lousy Gold Key comic mags. I especially enjoyed the likeness of Jonathan Frid as Barnabas, obviously drawn from reference photos, which made these stories seem like "real" Dark Shadows to me!
The main drawback to this particular edition is that the strips are reprinted at such a small size, it was a bit of a strain to read them. Get out your magnifying glass!
I, for one, would buy a more expensive edition that had larger reproductions. The finer details of the art are lost at this size.

Our local papers never carried this at the time so it was great to read these. The stories were pretty good and the artwork was way better that the Gold Key comics. Too bad it didn't last longer.

The comic strip itself is well-written, and the artwork is wonderful - what you can see of it. Unfortunately, the daily strips are reproduced SIX to a page. Whatever fine line work the artist put into the panels is lost in the tiny size. The daily strips are almost too small to read without getting a eye-strain headache. The book's dimensions should have been much larger. Hopefully a better presentation will come out one day...I give it two stars for the art and one star for the story.

As a collector of Dark Shadow material i really needed this. I believe there is a new edition just published, which may explain the reasonable price for this one. Great foreword. Comics are little hard to read with old eyes, with small print due to the compact nature of the book. Overall excellent. The comic is certainly superior to Gold Key as far as drawing skill goes.

Good storyline,it is ok disappionted the comic book is in black and white, if youre my generation, reading glasses vital.

This book is top notch. I had a hard time putting it down. It was nice to be able to re-visit Collinwood and get into a new story line. If you are a fan of Dark Shadows, I would recommend this book, especially on a dark, stormy night with the waves crashing below Widow's Hill!
