The book is very informative, for those with good eyesight. The print is smaller than normal, so for those of us who have difficulty seeing small print, it is a chore to read.

But when looking for information on a particular herb, or when searching for a remedy for a particular ailment, this book has excellent information.

However, you also need to wade through the history of the herb, how it has been used in the past, and the Eastern philosophy surrounding it.

If I had wanted a book on the history of herbs or the philosophies surrounding them, I would have bought a book with that in mind. What I wanted was a book that gave me more how-to and less verbiage.

It is well-written, though. So if you want a book that also includes history and philosophy, then this is the book for you. It also has great pictures and excellent guides.

I have not been unsatisfied by this book. It makes you want to read it. I have frequently fallen into mesmerizing information. If you are interested in growing your own herbs and using them, this is your book.
Truly, it is a new world of discovery. If you are unable to find or grow certain herbs, surprisingly there are many others given that could take its place. I was fascinated to find that there was so much overlap in the uses of plants. But then again, I didn't major in Horticulture. Whatever you majored in, this book will definitely catch you up on herbs and their various uses.
I may have to buy another copy in a few years because mine will soon look 100 years old from extensive use.
Happy Growing!!!
