A true collector's item, the historical value of this text will be greatly appreciated by sexologists, especially researchers, and historians of sexology. The exhaustive bibliography and its subject index is an extremely valuable tool for any researcher, teacher, or student searching for works on a vast array of topics pertaining to sexuality written by Dr. Money.
Dr. Money (a psychologist, not a medical doctor) spent the first 30 years of his career faking a gender experiment at the cost of a boy's sanity. Despite knowledge that the subject of the experiment continued to assert himself as a boy and refused gender engineering, Dr. Money pretended that his experiment in socialization worked 100% on the subject.
He is a not true, and his theories on sexuality are merely that - theories. And since he's got a proven track record of wrong and falsifying data to fit his theories, nothing he says should be believed.
Those that support the doctor and dismiss "As Nature Made Him" are those that have a similar bias as the "doctor" and want his falsified findings to be true. The fact that the "doctor" has refused to accept the testimony of his subject and rejected the facts that were allegedly kept from him, demonstrates that he is more interested in his theory (and the wealth that has flowed from it) than the truth.
John Money was one of the greatest sexologists that ever lived. He may have been wrong (and any such contention still remains to be proved) but he was never a fraud. He was a generous human being who cared about the least careworthy of us, those sexually deviant from norms. The tragedy is that those who chose to tear at the fabric of a giant have suceeded in reducing him to a point of controversy and in the process will irreparably impair a great man's reputation and make his work less accesible to those who might have benefited from this incredible schloar's contribution to the field that all think they know about but don't. I was fortunate to call him friend and grieve his loss.
