This account gives some very good information on the history of the Lake Erie Islands and contains many short biographies of area residents during the Nineteenth and early Twentieth centuries. This reviewer read it for research purposes over a period of time. Definitely not a page turner, but provides a rather good picture of life at that time. A useful book for the purpose of research, but not entertaining reading.

Great book. Both the reprint of the original and the added material provide an excellent overview of the early recorded history of mainstream culture within and among the Lake Erie Islands.

For the mainstream culture of the early twentieth century, this is a remarkable book.

There is a great deal of research augmenting the original piece, so this represents a significant contribution beyond a simple reprint of local histories. Well recommended.
