I have read many histories of feudal England, and most turn out to be very similar to each other. This book was different, in that it knowledgeably and carefully tracked the political events of the reigns from William I through John, and connected them thoughtfully to the origins and development of the various documents and elements of the British Constitution, and showed how those events affected future events. Although the book was detailed in the extreme, it was incredibly informative, putting many well-known episodes in a new perspective
