An excellent book on lighting design. I am outsider to the field, so I can't really address the accuracy of everything that is said. It’s time Wiley approached the author to publish a sequel with LED’s being a central focus. But in terms of scope it covers all the bases. I found that I tended to "dip" into sections that discussed things I didn't know much about, and skip others. This book is just as useful ether way. Lighting design is both a science and an art, and I would have appreciated reading more about the intuitive aspects of lighting that arise out of years of experience.

They are immersive optical environments, idealized spaces with discreet openings. In translating the outside world into moving fields of light and color, the projections make an argument for an unfixed notion of sight. Whether through the slow arc of the sun, the kinetic pace of pedestrian traffic, or a sometimes easy pulse of wind, each work responds to an environment in flux.
