Hardcover: 497 pages. This book is truly awful and the worst book I have had in law school. The professor even said on the first day of class that the book was terrible but there wasn't really anything else out there that was any better. 8 of 8 students in the class also find this book terrible. I found myself digging out "Taxation of Estates, Gifts and Trusts" to study from that (and, actually, I just stopped reading Federal Income Taxation of T & E all together). This book has too many unnecessary cases - just get to the point already.

This text provides a modern approach to traditional legal study. It is the first and only casebook that affords the reader a clear and concise explanation of the law of trust and estates.

The casebook covers all the fundamental topics of every trust and estate course: estate planning, intestate succession, trusts, wills, estate administration, and federal estate taxation. Decedents' Estates is unique in that it includes current and up-to-date judicial decisions - all main cases were decided between 1985 and 1999 - as well as recent law review articles that exemplify and amplify the concept of estate law. The book also discusses the forms necessary to estate law such as form trusts, wills, and incidental documents; probate court forms for several jurisdictions; the federal estate tax return with forms and cases; reference to the Uniform Probate Code as well as selected state statutes; and exercise problems to generate classroom discussion.

Decedents' Estates is an indispensable and highly readable source for both the law student and the legal professional in an area of law that forms the bulwark of most legal practices- trust and estate law.
