Читать онлайн A murder in Marienburg. A murder in Marienburg. This is a dark age, a bloody age, an age of daemons and of sorcery. It is an age of battle and death, and of the world’s ending. Arullen Silvermoon always knew he was fated to die in Marienburg, but not like this: being stalked by ravening creatures through the dark, dank catacombs beneath Suiddock, every attempt at escape or evasion tracked and checked with effortless ease, all hope extinguished as the creeping shadows drew ever closer.

The characters are as alive as ever, still as geniusly done as in A Murder In Marienburg, the combat as well is stupendous and there isnt much of a shortage for it as well, these will keep you happy, but the flaws are as follows. Where the hell are the magic users, get all the battle magic users together and the Farrak issue could have and would have been over a hell of a lot sooner.

A Murder in Marienburg book. This is yet another excellent dark fantasy book set in the Warhammer world. Warhammer has crept ahead of the Realms books in my opinion recently.

Book is in Very Good Condition. Text will be unmarked. May show some signs of use or wear. A MASSACRE IN MARIENBURG (WARHAMMER NOVELS) By David Bishop Excellent Condition.

A Murder in Marienburg. Part of the Warhammer Fantasy Series). I enjoyed this book and thought it was well written if somewhat formulaic (it read like the plot of many Westerns). I have to admit that I thought it broke down a bit at the end, with some of the plot lines being tied up in a fashion that didn't really fit the quality of the writing earlier.

When he is made a captain of the watch, ex Imperial army officer Kurt Schnell soon finds his promotion is a poison chalice. I will get straight to the point if you dont have this book in your collection go and get it now! Go right now! I, in all my years of reading have only come across books this amazing and mind numbingly fantastic and geniusly brilliant on so very few occasions, if I remember correctly those occasions amount to less then ten, and this novel is going straight into my top five, it is in either second or third place.

I dont say these kind of things all the time, giving this much praise and love, but I mean every word of it, this novel is one of the or possibly even thee smoothest and flowing book I have ever had the pleasure of reading, and what I mean by smooth and flowing is that, the story doesnt sputter or stall at all at any point during what I read, it goes on and on perfectly, everything being linked beautifully and majestically until it comes to a brilliant conclusion.

Writing: Some of the greatest I have ever come across, it kept my attention and I not once ever lost focus for any amount of time, as smooth as a road with a new covering of asphalt. I even laughed on occasion and it was honest laughter, not forced in the least, a very rare thing to find in a Warhammer Novel.

Combat: Perfectly descriptive and highly enjoyable, every bloody second of it. I had to duck weapon swings and step over bodies, it was so well done.

Characters: Simply couldn't have been done any better, even if I was sitting in the same room with them. The most lifelike and loveable characters i've had the heavenly chance to read about, even the bad ones, I loved them all, each having their own personalities and qualities, good and bad.

In conclusion, as I have said before if you do not own this book and it is not in your collection, get it now I cannot stress this enough, its worth purchasing whatever the price, David Bishop has brought a level of genius and sheer brilliance to his work in this book, that has astounded me to my very core, I salute you David Bishop, you are a writing god, I am honored to have read your glorious work.

Next I shall be reading and reviewing the next in this series called A Massacre In Marienburg by David Bishop.

Several other fantasy tie in series have tried to introduce mystery (Including Forgotten Realms and Dragonlance) but not to any great success. In all probability this David Bishop series is also doomed.

That's not to say that I didn't enjoy it. It pushes enough of the mystery buttons to make it a decent enough ride.
I was happy enough with most of the character work, but the plot is by the numbers.

The Outcome was totally predictable, there really was no surprise to any of it. A Twist would have been nice.

Don't let this deter you from reading the book, it was still a pleasant journey.

If you do happen to enjoy this first novel, there is a second called 'A Massacre in Marienburg' I do not think there is a third one coming.

An Earlier Review compared this to Glen Cook, but it's nowhere near that level of writing. Glen Cook is an exceptional writer who doesn't always seem to get the recognition he deserves.

Similar to Glen Cook's enviroment - a fantasy world with a mystery story - only a cop rather than a private eye. Nicely laid out with empathy for the main character.

This is a fair book but I would be leery of buying another by this author without first reading more or checking reviews first. As the first reviewer states the book appears formulaic comparing it to westerns. I thought of the story more as a generic fantasy tale the author had lying around which he inserted into the Warhammer universe. Many of the cues which make up Warhammer appeared missing and the characters initially drew me in but then came across flat towards the middle and end.
