One of four books that should be read in the proper order as one story picks up where the former one ends. The characters are interesting, there is nice play between the haves and have nots and the Bailey family is unique in being made up of people of different social classes. There were interesting challenges for the members in each generation most, but not all, handled successfully.

This series of books by Catherine Cookson are great. I have just finished # 3 and so looking forward to the next book. If you have not read these books then all I can suggest is that you start ASAP.!!! Great story lines, characters are so real, and I for one will continue reading them for a long time to come .I am sure you will enjoy the books as much as I have. Although my husbands name always appears on the reviews I (Margaret McGrory) am the one whe reads all the books on Kindle. He still prefers the hard back type !!!!

After finishing the Mary Ann series on 20 December 2013, I had to find another series, and right from picking up Bill Bailey on 20/13/13 I was hooked. This is the first in a series of 4 and you can be sure I will read and re-read this series. There are so many aspects in this book, which i have almost finished, that can be related to either personally, or what you have experienced yourself, through others, in life. A great read.
