Alan Frisco Francisco’s entire identity comes from his status as a US Navy SEAL. In his eyes, if he’s not a SEAL, he’s a failure, and just a few steps away from following his alcoholic father’s footsteps to complete worthlessness. After a terrible knee injury, he can barely even walk, let alone do the physical kinds of activities a SEAL needs to be able to do.

She couldn't mend his wounded body. When Navy SEAL lieutenant Alan Frisco Francisco's career is threatened by a bullet, he has two reasons not to wallow in self-pity: the appearance of his abandoned five-year-old niece, and his neighbor, Mia Summerton, who's determined to help him heal his leg and his heart.

When a bullet hinders his career as a Navy SEAL, Alan "Frisco" Francisco, determined to make a speedy recovery, finds his life taking a different turn when his five-year-old niece is unexpectedly left in his care and his beautiful neighbor, Mia Summerton, sets out to steal his heart. Reprint.
Alan "Frisco" Francisco finds himself at the bottom of his second floor condo facing life as a civilian. The former Navy SEAL suffered a knee injury during a mission five years earlier and no longer has full use of his leg. He balks at being offered a job as a SEAL trainer and decides to instead drown his sorrows in the home he rarely comes back to. His neighbor Mia Appleton is a little too friendly for his tastes and when she innocently tells him that he should get a place on the first floor, he practically growls at her. But Frisco's plans for drowning are put on hold when his sister dumps five year old Natasha on his doorstep so that she can go to detox, putting Frisco in a role he has never prepared for.

Mia discovers that the career soldier is more than she imagined, and when Frisco finds that he has to rely on help from others, Mia is happy to oblige. As he begins to rely on her more, and their feelings become more intense, the thought of being incapacitated for life makes Frisco run from his feelings. At the same time his sister's former lover is starting to make waves and threats against Natasha. When those threats become a reality, he calls on the salt water cowboys to aid in the rescue.

Brockmann's third in the SEAL Alpha Team series (Prince Joe; Forever Blue) is one of her more bittersweet stories, as Frisco is stripped of his identity and is faced with an uncertain future he is not sure he wants to burden another with.
Well, i guess since I started reading Suzanne's trouble shooter's series, I got used to having to read different characters in one book. I feel like this book is really short for me. but i still like the story. It's not as engaging as the other stories that i'm used to reading from her. The kid is funny and she sounds really smart for her age.
Well, for the price I shouldn't really expect a really long story. It's something that I will re-read when i'm in the mood for something quick and funny.
I liked the overall plot & characters. I only wonder why the hero, with a knee as badly damaged as described, was never offered the option of amputation & prosthetic. Otherwise, I am enjoying this series.
A vivid reminder that our freedom is not free. As we read our lighthearted books, the real world does not always end happily ever after. Be grateful every day to our servicemen/women.
I liked this book very much. Frisco is a tough, accomplished guy, but has been discouraged by an injury, which makes him think he has to resign from the Navy. His niece is dumped on him, and he comes through as a great guy. He does a lot of growing, because he loves her. There are dangers to avoid, though - not so easy for a man with a bum leg. The romantic part of this book is good also. I'll leave you to discover that yourself.
I enjoyed this book while I read it, however, the story has a lot of references to other characters. This was the first book I read in this series and I was aware the whole time that I had missed part of the story. I enjoyed the story while I read it and don't regret reading it, but I doubt I would re-read it.
I lost my copy of this book in the Tall Dark & Dangerous series by Suzanne Brockmann. The copy I was sent arrived in a timely fashion in good packaging and was in good shape. I rate this bookseller as five stars. The actual story is one of the best ones in this series.
Although I have been reading Suzanne for years and actually met a Navy Seal at one of her book signings. His Navy Seal Reserve Team is training women in self defense. How cool is that? Suzanne is not only a great writer, but her depictions of gays and women in the armed forces, her Troubleshooters Group and the FBI are beautifully done.
This book was very good. Suzanne is always good no matter what she writes. I will always buy her books.
