Anne Bennett (Author), Caroline Lennon (Reader). Anne Bennett always tells a good story although some may find her books a little too similar to each other. I love the fiction laced with history.

A heartrending and heartwarming saga of the Birmingham blitz, from the author of DANNY BOY. Lizzie is finding that life in the Birmingham blitz is hard. This book is amazing and quite the best I have read in a long time. Could not put it down and felt very lost when I had finished it. It describes life in the Magdeline Laundries and is so realistic you are living in the story. Brilliant

Totally loved it, couldn't put it down and feel a bit lost now I've finished it! I grew up in Birmingham and feel like I'm back there each time I read any of Anne Bennetts novels. The story line was fantastic and quite upsetting when Lizzie was sent to the Magdalene Laundries. I'd definitely recommend this novel to others.

This novel is one of the best I have read for a long time. It is a wonderful story and Anne Bennett's imagination certainly worked overtime here. There is something happening in this story all the time and so unpredicable. This novel is up with one of the great family sagas ever written. Treat yourself and you will see what I mean. Hats off to Anne Bennett. Brillant, Entertaining and so very breath catching.
