I have enjoyed the Barbara Delinsky books I have read but this one was so slow, so predictable

I listened to this book via Audible. I have enjoyed the Barbara Delinsky books I have read but this one was so slow, so predictable. From the start the plot was thin and easy to anticipate what was going to happen. It left little to the imagination or anticipation as the book went along.

A first-rate storyteller" (Boston Globe), the incomparable Barbara Delinsky is renowned for capturing the essence of contemporary life: from day-to-day victories and setbacks to momentous events that profoundly affect us all.

From the New York Times bestselling author of More Than Friends comes an emotionally charged novel that reflects upon the consequences of one irrevocable act.

In the idyllic small town of Tucker, Vermont, life flows at a rhythmic pace for pediatrician Paige Pfeiffer. But when Mara O'Neill, her best friend and medical partner, inexplicably kills herself, Paige's comfortable life is suddenly shattered. Temporarily caring for Mara's newly adopted baby daughter while she comes to grips with her grief, Paige clings to the hope that, in time, her orderly life will return.

What she hadn't counted on were the unexpected pleasures that often come with change, including the touch of a man who offers Paige things she never thought she wanted. She hadn't counted on finding the meaning of life in the death of a friend.

For everyone who has ever made a choice between what is and what could be, Barbara Delinsky unveils a truly moving gift from the heart that captures one woman's story and ultimately speaks to us all.

I like this author because her writing flows well, the situations are realistic and characters are people you root for. The plot dealt with co-workers and friends of a woman who committed suicide, and how they all felt they had failed her somehow. Why hadn't she taken them into her confidence? It reminded me of a book I read in college called "The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life" and how no matter how close we are to someone, we do not know them completely. I enjoyed it.

I have always liked Delinsky's books though I used to read the romance ones almost 15 years ago. I was honestly not aware that she had some good books that kept you turning the pages. I loved this book and all its characters. I kept looking at the bottom of my kindle to see the percentage I was at and would be shocked to see I was only at 30% since normally with other books at such a point you find the story is about to end. She was good very good. And a happy ending

I have not read a book by this author but after finishing this book realized how much I missed it. This book was absolutely fabulous. Even though u can pretty much know the end the story was beautifully written. A must read.

I find it odd that the child she is coming to love is from India, but the picture on the front of the book is a little white baby. Oops - marketing mistake...

This book was a suggested read on a forum thread where people were asking for authors similar to Jodi Picoult. It was a pleasant enough read but somehow it didn't quite hit the mark for me. The storyline was good but wasn't developed enough. It lent itself for more drama and intrigue and this wasn't delivered. This made it an enjoyable but instantly forgettable read, not something that you would mull over and continue to think about.
I absolutely loved every page of this book. It showed how we don’t really know our friends or ourselves as well as we think we do; and how opening your mind and your heart can complete your life.... never hold back.
