Other than ending rather abruptly, this one had it all. Good story of seeking revenge, a mule that wouldn't give up, friends found where least expected and kinship like no other. Amidst sneaky ways to throw off a posse, doing work that one would not expect, a Langtry kind of performance and guns were ablazing, the story boiled down to the sweetness of revenge. It was probably a 4.3 or so but they do not allow other than full number ratings. From Yuma prison to the story's end it was one fine read....shu

This is a well written and entertaining Western story. The author provided enough detail to keep your interest, but not so much as to bog the story down. The scenario of the railroaded hero's revenge after getting out of prison isn't unique and the ending could have been stronger. That being said, it was still an enjoyable read.

Few things are as boring as driving through the Arizona desert. However, one of those things is a travelogue by the protagonist as he, for page after page, describes his trip through it on horseback. Actually, I think the author used that to pad what otherwise would have been a mildly interesting novella.

I was pretty much starved for a good western. My favorite author is Louis A'Amour. L.J. Martin has taken care of this problem for me. I read all 4 of these novels in one week. Loved them all. Now I'm into all of the rest of L.J.'s novels.

Great historical fiction. If you are a L'Amour fan and wishing for someone to fill the void, Martin may be the answer. While L'Amour developed places, Martin develops the history and character of California. A good read.

The hero escapes from impossible situations, lots of gunfire, romance and a real villain. What more could you ask for?

Western fiction fan's won't be disappointed in L. J. Martin's O"Rourke's Revenge. In classic western style O'rouke set out on a trail of bloody revenge after a prison term for something he didn't do.
