Greg Jenkins is the author of the three-volume series Florida's Ghostly Legends and Haunted Folklore, as well as Chronicles of the Strange and Uncanny in Florida. Since an early age, Greg has had a profound interest in the supernatural and fringe science, and after a personal experience with the unknown in 1987, he embarked on a journey into the realms of parapsychology and all things mysterious. A mental health counselor and case manager, Greg is also a folklorist and collector of oral traditions and urban legends.

This volume of Florida's Ghostly Legends and Haunted Folklore offers a delightful-and somewhat spooky-look into the darker side of the south and central areas of the Sunshine State. Explore fortress ruins in New Smyrna Beach, and keep an eye out for mysterious shadows and dark figures in the nearby forest; visit the island of Islamorada, where the ghostly remains of Flagler's railway rumble over tracks destroyed in the 1935 Labor Day Hurricane; and, if you're especially brave, walk through the eerie corridors of the mausoleum in Myrtle Hill Cemetery

I have to admit, I was rather disappointed in this book. I had hoped for a more comprehensive look at the ghost stories of the area - there are so many more that should have been included. Most of the stories focus on the mid-part of the state, leaving out large chunks of the Miami-Dade area.

Greg did a fantastic job with this. This book and the other two in the series are destined to become classics in Florida paranormal literature.

Fun read.

This and the other two volumes of the set (2 and 3) make for a good read. Writer strikes a good balance between relating the raw tale as he was told it and adding in a spoonful of rational skepticism/alternate explanation as needed. Stories include a lot of hands-on research to sites making it a sort of paranormal travelogue. Writer clearly kept an open mind and respects his sources. Well written and of much better quality than the host of tourist-oriented ghost books one normally finds. Good read.
