Watching Trees Grow book. Watching Trees Grow is an interesting whodunnit set in an alternate Tendeleo's Story, Ian McDonald's contribution to this binary book, is set in his Chaga series, in which Earth is colonised by biological packages which grow inexorably from their landing sites at 50 metres per day. It tells the story of a woman who is displaced by the Chaga, and how it affects her life.

Ian McDonald is a British writer-he was born in Manchester in 1960, grew up in Northern Ireland, lives now in Belfast-whose work started appearing in the early 1980s in magazines like Interzone and Isaac Asimov’s Science Fiction, and very quickly began to be reprinted in the annual Best SF of the Year anthologies. But there also happens to be a fine British writer of about the same age named Ian R. MacLeod, whose stories have appeared regularly in Interzone and Asimov’s, and quickly began to be reprinted in the annual Best SF of the Year anthologies.
