BRAZEN ANGEL is book 1 in Elizabeth Boyle's "Brazen" trilogy as well as her debut, which was originally released in 1997. I actually read this about ten years ago and decided to re-read it when I found it for free on kindle. It was the first novel I ever read by Ms. Boyle and I remember absolutely loving it. Well, I just finished it for the second time and once again was not the least bit disappointed. The story held my attention from beginning to end, and never once lost its hold. The entire tale was unique and utterly captivating, and I could hardly put the book down. The chemistry between Giles and Sophia was strong and you can sense the bond between them from the their very first meeting. The story was full of adventure and romance and truly enjoyable, with never a dull moment. For a debut novel it was a fantastic start to Boyle's long and illustrious career, and I can't wait to read the second book in this series soon. Just a really great story and one I'd definitely recommend, so don't miss it =)

I really enjoyed reading this book. I read a lot of different types of romance novels and find that most of the time they run along the same type of story line. The author of the Brazen Angel added more to the story and the female character was written well. She remained strong throughout the book and did not give up herself to be with her love. Nothing was taken away from the main characters to remain true to themselves and I enjoyed the twist and turns of the story line.

Lady Sophia D'Artiers is a master of disguise. To the ton, she is a delicate invalid who often travels to Bath for its healing waters. Yet to the citizens of New France, Lady Sophia is the enigmatic hero known as La Devinette.

Giles, the Marquess of Trahern and an invaluable foreign agent for the Crown, is tasked with discovering the identity of the mysterious revolutionary. Is she connected to the Brazen Angel, a notorious jewel thief who preys on the most unscrupulous of London's elite? And why does his betrothed, Lady Sophia, go missing every time the Brazen Angel appears?

I enjoyed the chemistry between Sophia and Giles. Although I wish there had been more backstory for how Sophia became La Devinette. Her companions' skills with makeup, disguises, and clever escapes could only explain so much. And I was a bit perturbed by the portrayal of the French Revolution. Peasants and farmers were described as one-dimensional, greedy and mindless villains, while all titled French nobles were generous, kind, etc. The story was strongest when it showed interactions between complex characters. Hence the plot would have benefited from the author taking the time to flesh out poorer French characters, such as the farmers who helped to hide noblemen.

4/5 stars and I would definitely recommend this for fans of Regency romance.

Brazen Angel is book 1 of the Brazen Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

The first thing the hero should have done was unmask the heroine and not the last thing. I am so disappointed that I wasted my time reading this story but I kept thinking that with all the great ratings it would surely get better but I was wrong! So very wrong! I personally could not get over the fact that the unmasking did not happen sooner.

I enjoyed this book very much because of the intrigue at the French court and the sexual tension between Sop j IA and Giles. I also liked the resourcefulness of Sophia in her many disguises and the fact that she was not able to leave Giles behind. He matched her step for Stephen in the outrageous chances that she took trying to rescue those that she loved. There was nothing that I did not like about this book and I found myself not able to put it down once I started it.

Giles is facing an impending marriage that was set up by his late father. He is dreading that marriage but he is intrigued by the Brazen Angel. Little does he know that the Brazen Angel and Sophie are the same person? Why is she choosing the men she chooses to rob and what exactly is she doing with the money that she nets from those robberies? And is she really the one responsible for the death of Agent Webb? Will Giles Trahern discover all the answers he is looking for about the Brazen Angel? This is a very well written and interesting historical fiction set during the time of the French Revolution. And if this is the author's debut novel there is a lot of promise and I will consider her books in the future.
This story has an amazing storyline that completely draws you into. You cannot help falling in love with the characters and feeling all of their emotions as if they were you. This story sucks you in and I couldn't put it down until the end. I cannot wait for the next book!
