I tend to hate fiction because the people never act like real people- and Paris Match is a great example of that. Just to start, when the 17-year-old runs away, the mother immediately makes plans to go after her- and her husband and mother try to stop her! "Oh, she's 17, she'll be fine, this is what she wanted BLAH BLAH BLAH" COME ON. That's ridiculous! And all through the book they act as though it's totally safe for a nearly-18-year-old to be running off from her family, as though there weren't a million dangers out there waiting for innocent young women. I'm not a believer in the world being too dangerous to live in, but a 17-year-old on her own in a strange country is just asking for trouble. Also, people just don't talk like they do in this book. This author has no subtlety; all her characters just blurt out all their inmost feelings. Human beings do not act like that. Most of the characters are one-dimensional(Matt, the husband, is selfish incarnate, a bloody monster) and I really didn't feel like we got to know anyone, except maybe Lauren. What this book really needed was a better editor. There was potential for greatness, the story is pretty fascinating really, but can we please try to connect to emotional realities a little more firmly? Oh, and the twist at the end was just terrible. No need for a twist! He was already a bad person!

I wish they would re-edit & re-release this book. Just mostly not worth reading the way it is.

In her quest to find her teenage daughter who has run off to Paris, suburban housewife, Lauren confronts her disquieting past and begins to question the choices she has made. Lauren's journey takes her to the vibrant streets, cafes, and art galleries of Paris, reconnecting her with friends and places she left behind. More importantly, she journeys inward, facing her greatest fears, and ultimately recognizing she needs to be true to herself. Engaging and suspenseful, "Paris Match" is a great story. My 7th grade bookworm couldn't put it down, and chose to use it for her English class essay assignment. If you are looking for an entertaining and satisfying read, try "Paris Match".

I highly recommend Paris Match, a novel by kathleen Reid!
This book is fun and entertaining right up to the last pages. Mrs. Reid does a wonderful job of intertwining two cities one of which is Paris, France.
The storyline is original and intriguing. There are several surprising twists which make the novel interesting up to the end of the story.
I really liked Mrs. Reid's characters and found myself indentifying with them. They were well developed and you either liked the characters or not(which is a good thing!).
This is a great, fun read and one which I am sure you will not want to put down once you read the first chapter. Hopefully the next novel by kathleen Reid is already in the works. She has real talent!

Although the book was highly predictable, with its silly coincidences, and character flaws, I did enjoy the book. It was charming and heart warming, and for the most part a page turner. It wasn't outstanding, but it wasn't terrible either. To the author I would say, for your first novel, good work and keep writing.
