At intervalsI heard Hélène’s voice, and then the groans seemed to stop. If I had had the right,I believe I would have carried her away by force. But I had not the right. I must have been dozing in the fauteuil, for suddenly I found myselfsitting up, listening to an unwonted noise. I knew from the count of thehoof-beats which came from down the street that a horse was galloping inlong strides-a spent horse, for the timing was irregular.

The Jewish Bride (Dutch: Het Joodse bruidje) is a painting by Rembrandt, painted c. 1665 - 1669. The painting gained its current name in the early 19th century, when an Amsterdam art collector identified the subject as that of a Jewish father bestowing a necklace upon his daughter on her wedding day. This interpretation is no longer accepted, and the identity of the couple is uncertain

Jewish Book Council, founded in 1944, is the longest-running organization devoted exclusively to the support and celebration of Jewish literature. The murder of her young friend takes a woman news reporter on a journey over a crossing that must be undertaken though it rocks the very fabric of the American dream. I knew Helene Shrier from the Jewish community, and when she first published this book, I bought it from her to be polite. But when I sat down to read it, I was overcome by its beauty and depth. I ended up setting two of the poems to music. I have such fond memories of the day I invited her to my apartment so I could perform them for her for the first time, and later when I sang them in temple with her in the congregation. Helene was a very spiritual lady and a wonderful poet. May she rest in peace.

I thought since I was the only reviewer there might not be anyone else reading this, so I am sending you a message. They might not put this in but it was worth a try. I was searching on the internet and I came across your book and it made me smile, "my published aunt"! A great collection. I will be seeing and talking to you soon. ~Jenny
