I had the amazing opportunity to hear Rynn read from this collection in Northern California some years ago, before her untimely passing in 2009.

What can I say? She took the room hostage to journey with her to the rooftop playground in Manhattan, and across her inner landscape far and wide. Her language was both fierce and vulnerable, and beckoned me to own this book.

Rynn Williams understood that poetry was in itself beautiful, but that the underbelly of poetic metaphor was worth scratching.

Adonis Garage won the Prairie Schooner Book Award for Poetry in 2004. Poet Mark Doty said of Adonis Garage, "You couldn't ask for a more articulate ars poetica." I humbly concur.

Sweetest, fiercely intense, unabashedly NYC-centric, and utterly breathtaking collection from a truly amazing observant artist. Rynn Williams was simply unearthly in her skill, craft, subject matter. It was tragic to have her leave us so suddenly. I would have followed her till then end of my days. Instead, I followed until the end of hers. Way too soon.
