I had to fight to keep attention at certain parts.

This story gripped me from page one and I couldn't put it down til the very end. The plot signified reality even when I hoped things would get better. Tammy and Hassan's love for each other was utterly genuine which doesn't always equal a bed of roses.
I loved how their children were active characters in the book. They weren't just given a name and pushed to the side so that the focus could be on the adults like so many other authors tend to do. We were allowed to actually see the children grow up along with watching Tammy's development as she became more responsible with age.
I loved Ms. Biggs writing style and how she allowed us to see the story from both Tammy and Hassan's perspectives. They told the tale jointly but through different eyes and it was amazing in comparison at how differently men and women think and feel and view the same situation. Kudos to Ms. Biggs for skillfully bringing this to life.
The only bad part to me about this book was the bad editing and the Tom character. It was almost as if he was created as a Prince Charming to save Tammy from the harsh depths of reality. A man old enough to be her father? Please. Ms. Biggs could have done better at attempting to find a way to reer Tammy's heart from Hassan. What was with the instant marriage thing? This should be a rewrite.
Although I didn't care for that part of the book, the ending left me thirsty for more! Hassan knows what he wants and there's probably not a man who can't relate to Hassan's feelings for Debbie. I agreed that he made the right decision in the interim, but he and Tammy simply belong together. I literally cried tears as their deep love for each other tore at my heart.
Ms. Briggs, I hope you're currently in the process of writing the sequel and please don't let it be a disappointment!

This was a very good, in-yo-face book dealing with the realities of teenage parenthood, and the consequences of having unprotected sex. I read this book in 6 hours, if you are a teenager who thinks he/she is grown-READ THIS BOOK, if you think you're ready for the real world-READ THIS BOOK. In my opinion the ending was very unreal and sappy...I think it could've ended better, but that's just me. What really made this book, is the fact that Ms. Biggs made you feel these characters, you wanted to reach right through the pages and help them through all their trails and tribulations, at times you felt like you were on the outside looking in, then moments later you were in the character's head. A++++++ to Ms. Biggs, I look forward to many more titles.

What can I say. This book was soooo good. For Ms. Biggs first time out, this book (minus the typos) was very well written. You felt Tammy and Hassan's pain, trials, and tribulations.
I couldnt put this book down (read it in 1 day).
I will admit I wasnt too fond of Tammy getting with Tom. She needed someone in her life to take care of her and the kids, but she wasnt feeling him like that b/c @ the drop of a dime she would have went back to Hassan if he had his mess together.
If you are a fan of african american novels/lit, this is a must on your list of books!
You will not be disappointed.

In general, I liked the story. It was as if the author was telling the story of my life minus the projects. However, I did not like the fact that Tammy settled for a man that she wasn't in love with and that was too old for her. Other than that, I recommend this book.

I put this book down several times because the main character seemed to be in a never-ending cycle of making the same mistakes in the name of love...or shall we say sex (probaly the best part of the book). When she finally makes a good life-changing decision, she almost renigs on that. I was a little disturbed by this character but I will give it 2 stars since it did arouse some type of emotion.

This book was so exciting it had me reading it in the middle of the night. I could not put it down. The way undra wrote this book made you feel like you were part of the characters life.
This one of the most beautiful stories of love lost that I have read, because it is too realistic. Thank you
