Bought this book years ago, read it, laughed a lot, and enjoyed the book so well that I reread it many times when I needed a pick me up. Loaned it out about 7 yrs. ago and didn't get it back. It was so good that I remembered this book this long and with my kindle found a way to get it back. A group of ladies that will be together a lifetime, and how CJ finds her love thru history, poems, Indians, and tales. A genius that finds the other half of herself thru love. The reason for four stars is because I would have liked the book to go thru the wedding. Enjoy the silliness and laughter.

Very funny Romance novel. CJ attempts to fool her friend that she has a fiancé. She selects a complete stranger. It backfires, and she ends up falling for him. A good read with several twists.

Great book!

Well, let me start by saying that I LOVE Kay Hooper's writing. Usually. I find her characters engaging and the storylines, while ultimately predictable (hey, who *doesn't* want a happy ending?), interesting enough to make me feel like the cost of the investment was worthwhile. Not so with "C.J.'s Fate". I just felt like this was a slim, slapped-together effort that didn't hold my interest and I found myself skipping through it, hoping for something to catch my eye. That hope was not realized, and I was left wishing I'd invested in a different "sure bet" author.

The story was cute, mildly entertaining but, I'm used to the more gritty stories by Kay Hooper. It was too short and left me less than satisfied. Overall it satisfied my curiosity about her shorter novels and they are not my type.

Book came in great condition. It was one of her earlier books, which I didn't like as much as the newer ones, but the seller and price were fine. Took the book a bit longer to get here than the others, but that's OK.

I love Kay Hooper but found this book not quite up to her normal standards. Turns out this was one of her first publications. It is nice to see how much she has grown as a writer. I recommend this book on a cold rainy day while sitting in front of the fire.
If you like Harlequin's, you'll love this. For what it is, it's wonderful.

C.J. loves history, but her closest friends think she should look to the present. Specifically, for a man. They all gather together for a wedding. Their constant nagging at her finally hits the breaking point. On the spur of the moment, she grabs a passing man and kisses him passionately.

When they're alone, she explains to him and tries to get rid of him. He decides to help her with her friends, against her will. It's a merry chase with lots of fun. The character interaction is sparkling. The romance is lively and constantly moving. If the book had been longer, it would have been better. As it was , it was a bit rushed and parts seemed artificial.

I hated the beginning. That whole love at first sight thing irritates me. You cannot know a person that quickly. It's a cheat. Passion at first sight, ok. But love?

Barring that, it's a fun read. Hooper is a master at character interaction. That's why I owned so many of her books. I guess I'm changing and if I'm not going to reread a book, I need the room for those I will.
