A whirlwind romance of deep love and hot, steamy sex ensues, but getting his man to the States is no easy task for Jesse. Stanley Bennett Clay.

Easy Rawlins Joins the Hunt for a Serial KillerIt's 1956 and, times being what they are, no one in official Los Angeles pays much attention as a serial killer murders three black bar girls. But when a white stripper is similarly murdered - and when she turns out to be a UCLA coed, and the daughter of a politically powerful L.A. prosecutor - all hell breaks loose. The heat is finally on to find the killer.Stymied, the LAPD calls on Easy Rawlins for help, for Easy can go places and do things the police cannot. Reluctantly, Easy accepts their plea and begins a deadly quest that takes him through the seedy jazz joints of Bone Street and the dingy rooms of Hollywood Row. It is a brutal, dangerous odyssey that leads to a startling and heartbreaking conclusion - and jeopardizes his marriage and his life.

I love noir detective fiction - the dialogue, the open-ended resolutions, the blurring of lines between good and bad. Mosley's particular brand of noir has all the gritty elements one expects with the additional complication of race. This provides a whole new take on the genre providing depth and new directions for characters to go.

The attention of the police (and a new sense of urgency) is created when a young white girl is found dead that seems to fit the killer's MO. Mosley is very much the equal of other noir giants, but his writing and characters are wholly unique. For fans of the genre, I highly recommend the author and the series.

I thought the writer did a good job, but I was deeply depressed reading what had nothing uplifting
in the story. Dreary story, sad marriage, lack of consciences in the characters, and deaths made it hard to trudge through
the book.
The Apotheoses of Lacspor
This is the second time I have read this book. The story is like you're right there living with the characters. You want to yell at Easy and say man tell your wife who you really are!! The world we live in is hard enough if you can't be honest with yourself. That's Easy Rawlins you gotta love him anyway! I would recommend this book even if you don't care for this genre! Excellent job Mr Mosley!

I'm just discovering this series and I think it's terrific. I've heard a lot about it over the years and now I see why it's popular. The character descriptions are detailed and interesting. The harsh world is unsettling but it rings true. The protaganist's offhand philosophical observations also ring true. I've read three of these and I'm going to read more.

Short story, novel, commentary, it does not matter. If it is Walter Mosley, then it is good. I have and will continue to read everything in ink that man pens. This short story is no exception.
Olma
I love all the easy Rollins books and this one is no different!! Mr. Moseley does it again with a riveting story that keep you guessing.

I enjoy reading these books, in large part because it gives a view into the minority experience in SoCal during the 50s. The main character has flaws which is refreshing for this genre.
One of my favorite authors.
