Joseph Samuel Girardi, better known as Joe Girard, (November 1, 1928 - February 28, 2019) was an American salesman. Girard sold 13,001 cars at a Chevrolet dealership between 1963 and 1978, and was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the seller of the most cars in a year (1,425 in 1973). Girard later became a successful motivational speaker, and gave regular presentations for corporate clients including General Motors, Hewlett-Packard, and Kmart.

I bought this thinking that I would get some great insights from a great sales person. Unfortunately I got Joe Girard reading his book and not reading it very well (lot's of pauses in the wrong spots and mispronunciation of words). It was often painful to listen to but I listened to the entire package hoping the find jewels and wisdom that I could use or pass on to my sales guys. There were some nuggets and vaulable tips but not nearly enough to warrant 6 hours of listening content. Joe needed to have a professional read the book and needed someone to do a much better job of editing each book so that we the listeners would get valuable content from each book and not the same poorly read idea, "Send 1 card to each of your prospects every month so that you stay at the front of his/her mind." This lame idea and how he executed it was presented at least twice and probably three times in the program.

I realize that this was an abridged compendium of five of his books, but the number of times that the same concept was repeated and repeated and repeated was way too much. I hoped that each book would bring new and unique concepts forward, but that really did not happen.

My recommendation is that you buy any of Zig Ziglar's or Brian Tracy's (audio) books. They give you a much better presentation and lots of implementable ideas, and they do it in a very professional manner.

I felt that I wasted my money on Joe.

This set of CDs is not only Excellent for the new sales-person but it is also a GREAT refresher for the experienced sales-profesional.

I would recomend this set to ANY and EVERYONE that is serious about your career.

I'm SOOOOO glad that these Joe Girard classics are finally available on CD. I'm a big fan of Joe Girard - the World's Greatest Salesman. I've always found the best knowledge comes from people who are truly successful - those who have made it to the top - and Joe Girard is not only successful he is "the best" at sales. So if you are in sales, or own a business, you can't live without the knowledge that he teaches in these books.

In my opinion this book is out of date and specific to retail car sales. The tips in this book may be applicable to selling cars in 1970-80; however, in this decade, people buy cars because they have strong research done, not because the car sales person is the greatest sales guy in town. I do not think you can find any tips in this book specific to selling products in the corporate setting (business to business sales).
