Winnie's party is suddenly in danger of being a rather bothersome occasion but, true to form, Winnie soon has everything back under control and she ends the party with a stunning edible surprise for all her guests to enjoy.

My 9 year old has been reading Winnie books for years now and LOVES them.
They are funny and the illustrations have something new in them every time you look.
This is another hit! Cute, lively and bright and cheerful ending with all the feel good you need for the perfect picture book!

Winnie is a favorite with my 4 year old. The fold-out birthday cake in the middle she loves. The detail in the illustration fascinates her and the words are a pleasure for me to read, meaning that the author knows how to make a readable sentence, unlike many other children's books (Chris Van Allsburg & Jan Brett amongst them) who would be better off hiring a writer to structure a read-aloud sentence and sticking to illustration.
The CD, though, is too sing-song and I would not recommend it.

I purchase this for my daugther who is a comptent reader at 6 years old. In fact her grandmother bought her this from England and she loves it so much that she wants to read more. It is a funny and hilarious books that I highly recommomend for girls that want to read something different.
