Shrapnel in the Heart is in its own way as awesome a memorial as the wall. Major ad/promo; author tour. The book does and exceptionally good job of portraying the heartbreak and sadness of the families that lost loved ones in the Vietnam War. It was difficult to read this book without having to stop because of the emotions - and sometime tears - that drive deeply into the heart of the reader.

Edward Wanshaer Wynkoop was born in Philadelphia on June 19, 1836, the youngest of eight children. The great-grandson of Continental Congress member, Judge Henry Wynkoop. Wynkoop was appointed the first Sheriff of Arapahoe County, Kansas Territory (entire NE quarter of present State of Colorado) on September 21, 1858
