What a wonderful book about the pronghorn! They surround us (here in Wyoming) yet I knew so little . The story of the pronghorn is told beginning in spring with the birthing of the new fawns and ends with description of how these animals spend the winter.

I would have enjoyed more detail about the mating activities and conservation of the species. However, I believe most readers will be sufficiently captivated by the striking images presented in the book that this may be superfluous to the content of the text as it is.

Though not an antelope, it is often known colloquially in North America as the American antelope, prong buck, pronghorn antelope, prairie antelope, or simply antelope because it closely resembles the true antelopes of the Old World and fills a similar ecological niche due to parallel evolution.
