I think the Pullis method of speedwriting is the best. This book is very well written and organized. It uses the minimal amount of letters, goes by sound, eliminates middle word vowels, has brief forms, has abbreviations, and you can teach yourself in no time at all. The system uses the alphabet and no funny squiggley symbols.
