This is good for a textbook. I bought it for my political science class. The boring part is that, in each chapter it covers a lot of case examples (state vs. etc.) But within the first 5 chapters the reader will gain a clear understanding of how the constitution and the bill of rights came to be, and how it allows us the freedoms to do a lot of things today, that we take for granted

It's a text book. If you're buying it, it's probably required reading for a class so I doubt that you care very much about the reviews it's getting. It was pretty easy to read and understand though, so it's got that going for it. Definitely not as boring as a lot of the texts I've been forced to read in my decades of schooling.

This was my college text for American Politics. The chapters go thru the constitution, describes how policies and parties came about. I thought the book went a bit too much into the "opinions & views" of each topic with what men, women, foreigners, blacks poor, rich (etc) each thought. It should have just focused on the facts of the constitution, as the class was too short to accommodate the whole book. I guess this might be a good book to read if you needed to pass a citizenship test. EVERY AMERICAN should know this stuff out of high school...

Bought this for a Pol-Sci class. Being one who never was interested nor did well in any type of gov’t/political class, this book was surprising well written. Un-biased, easy to read and follow, and straightforward.

Had to buy it for school. Some of the stuff in it is worth the information but the way it's written sounds like someone trying to guilt you into agreeing with everything the government does
